| I was encountering some odd situations until I discovered this, apparently a functioning way to program keystrokes and combinations to the controller. Initial Problem: a. Simple keybinds worked, ie. "e". Nothing involving modifiers would work for me, such as "crtl+1". b. Programming a movement key to x-keys resulted in the character only inching, as if I were tapping a key, when instead I wanted to be able to hold and maneuver. A solution I found through forums and the manual (which I never received): 1. Switch pad to program mode. 2. Press key you intend to program. 3. Click insert, then "On Release". [This breaks the keybind into two boxes] 4. In top box -- press key combination followed by insert, Key Down. 5. In bottom box -- press key combination (same as 4.) followed by insert, Key Up. 6. Press key again to exit and save/switch out of program mode. Voila; this allows me to use keys with any amount of modifiers, the end result being very effective. Crtl+alt+shift+1, it even discerns difference between left and right modifiers. I'm not intimately familiar with why this works but I know macros did not work before, would erratically send characters running nonstop, and other nonsense that now works as intended. If I don't do the previous steps, my keys do nothing at best, unless programmed to a single keyboard key. Attached is a quick screencap of menu and what a simple combination looks like in MacroWorks II. |

| Interesting! The problem I have is that my saved XKey configuration isn't working on my new PC, whereas it was on my old one. I have Vista 64 on both as well. The XKey people are telling me to use hardware mode, but I still don't see how that will fix anything. My problem is that none of the modifier keys work, just like you are saying. 8 will work, but SHIFT+8 will not. I even did the keypress up and down thing you mentioned, but still no go. Grr |
