Question

"...[mod:shift, target=game1]..." game1 is the name of your character which is logged in on game1, right?

Tips
  • Only setup PwnBoxer keyboard broadcasting for the 'F' key. Not for Shift-F, Ctrl-F or Alt-F. You use "Key Remapping" to configure them to be sent to the slaves.
  • Bind only the 'F' key to the action-bar slot with the macro. Do not bind Shift-F, Ctrl-F or Alt-F. That didn't work for me.
  • Press 'F' in game1 and look to see if the action-bar slot is being "pressed" visually in game2 and game3.
  • Press "/" or "Enter" to start chatting on the slaves. Press 'F' in game1 and see if capital 'F' is showing up in chat in game2 and game3 (it should).

Yes game1 game2 game3 are my toon names.

I followed your tips but still get the "You have no target" on my screen when I press f in game 1. I pressed enter and then press f and I get a Capital F in game 2 and game 3. So my guess is that the macro is not working properly.

Did I type something wrong in my macro? or do I need another mod for the macro to interpret the mod:shift command?

I'm using bartender4 and no macro mods other than the built in macro manager from blizzard.

Thanks,
CustomZ02

Edit: Ok so I found my problem. Apparently the [mod:] command isnt recognized so I had to type [modifier:] for it to work.

Code:
/target [modifier:shift,target=yazpepa][modifier:alt,target=yazpepb][modifier:ctrl,target=yazpepc]
/follow
/targetlasttarget
That is the macro I'm using now to make this work. I'm not sure if you used mod: to shorten up your code or if maybe your using a mod that will interpret the [mod:] command as a [modifier:] command. Either way I finally got this working.

Thanks again,
CustomZ02

The abbreviated 'mod' definitely works but I could have sworn that I also had that problem once when struggling. I'm sure if you shorten modifier again back to 'mod', it will continue working. I definitely don't use the long version to preserve macro characters. Happy it works.

This is a macro copied 1:1 from inside WoW to the forums

Code:
/target [mod:shift,mod:alt,target=Faeil][mod:ctrl,mod:alt,target=Malaia][mod:shift,target=Malaine][mod:ctrl,target=Malaiah][mod:alt,target=Malaene]
/follow
/targetlasttarget

Could it maybe have been the <space> after the <,>?

[mod:shift, target=game1]
vs
[mod:shift,target=Malaine] and [modifier:shift,target=yazpepa]

I also thought it was the space, I removed the space and still had problems with the macro. I then changed the mod to modifier and it began to work. Not sure why the abbreviated modifier will not work.

I also just read the patch notes for 3.3. We can now replace 'target=' with '@'

example:
Code:
[mod:shift,@Malaine] and [modifier:shift,@yazpepa]

That'll be nice. But I do run a macro addon now so that I can also send macros to all my slaves from my master for quicker distribution. The addon also enables macros of up to 1024 characters.

I have tried it with 1 being in the broadcast list with ctrl+j in broadcast list.

If i have ctrl+j on the broadcast list and i press ctrl+j from #5 then 1 does what is suppose to. But if i press 1 on #5 then nothing happens on #1
it took me a few tries before it worked. I have another thread in this forum that shows how i struggled and also thought pwnboxer was broken.

My mistakes:
  • i forget to make sure that ctrl, shift, alt weren't configured by wow for auto-loot, self-cast and focus-cast keys.
  • i also feel like i had to completely exit wow and restart pwnboxer and explicitly load my .pbcfg configuration before it really seemed to work. But this was probably because i was editing the .pbcfg file directly.
  • i use bartender (maybe same applies to other action bars), and for the modifiers to work, i had to assign the actual key and not the modifier+key to the action bar. E.g. Action bar has "j" and not "ctrl-j". But this was to make modifiers accessible inside macros.
  • i only configure the "master" keys (e.g. "1" and not "ctrl-j") to be broadcast. And then i have the key remapping defined to map "1" to "ctrl-j".
it definitely works with pwnboxer for me - that's what i'm using. But i had my doubts initially as well when i simply couldn't figure out what was wrong.

Some good advice i found here and elsewhere:
  • try mapping "1" to "shift-a" on "game 2" or something like that. Then on "game 2", enter chat mode (enter?). On "game 1" press "1" and you should see a capital-a in your chat window on "game 2".
Pwnboxer issue Key Remapping NOT working. (not really an issue, but we all think it is when it is happening to us)

OK!!!! this might be spamming the forums but i see this issue all over and I found out what is causing it. I'm keeping this simple..I have spent hours trouble shooting this. I have unistalled and reinstalled and used older versions and cleaned out cookies and used CCleaner and many other things.

if you want to have "1" remapped like
If "Game 1" selected, transform "1" into "A" on "Game 2".

you NEED to have "1" in the "broadcast only these keys" section as well and have it check-marked.

after I did this everything worked.

I know this works bc i used it with several other Key Remappings that I have set up and they now work when I follow this example.

Having to have the originating key (in your case "1") configured for broadcasting or the key remapping will not work also has its advantages. Disabling the originating key, will disable the whole key remap then - if what you say is correct. This can be useful.

I hope Tim makes some good money on PwnBoxer. Maybe he will extend the UI for more easy (i.e. less work) FTL configuration and macro support

I definitely agree with you. I didn't add it into my explanation bc I wanted to keep it simple. I figured if they could understand what I said and then spent time looking over PB that they would figure it out on there own. But i definitely agree with you that it has it's advantages.

I will also add in: TIM!! Great program, now that I have FTL working. Was a great program before I had it working, but I like it even more now that I have FTL working. Grate Job on pwnboxer Tim.

The FTL system for Keyclone, is very similar to Pwnboxer. Keyclone calls the translation of keys "hotstrings" and Pwnboxer calls them "keymaps". Both programs use similar macros, and approach the FTL the same way.

I know you should be able to streamline this quite a bit. With IS Boxer, we just go to each character, during character set creation, and assign a unique modifier to each. So I check left alt for one, right alt for another, left ctrl for a third, right ctrl for a fourth, and left alt + left ctrl for the fifth. And that's the extent of my configuration (IS Boxer creates the macros for me), for a fully functional FTL Assist/Follow system. I would imagine something like this will appear in other boxing programs like KC or PB at some point.
