Default Re: Key Clone, and how it fails compared to Pwnboxer

Idk... I really will not bash key clone... of course I used autohotkey for about 3 months before getting key clone, so of course it felt good in comparison.

I will admit there is a lot to key clone and it can be difficult at times, but it did serve me well for a long period of time, it took me 10 minutes to setup and as soon as I had it going I never had to mess with anything in it again. The one thing I liked about key clone that pwnboxer doesn't currently have is the nice big mute button, so you know when your keys are paused.

but now onto pwnboxer. Pwnboxer took me under 1 minute to setup and have it running at full power, it is very simple to work but still can do almost all of the complex stuff with ease. I also like the fact that it has the mouse broadcasting built it, but I would like to be able to broadcast more then just left click or right click at a time, would be nice to have the option of both.

Overall I think both programs are good, just depends on your style.

Great feedback for sure!

You know Dev, the last update of Pwnboxer a few weeks back added support for doing both mouse left/right click buttons

Speaking of the big PAUSE stuff, one of my favorite things about Pwnboxer is that the application literally feeds off of user input and guidance. If anybody has something they want added to Pwnboxer to make it better, and its a good idea, then it gets added.

The Pause button, somebody wrote me up a way to do this about a week ago, right before we switched forums, and the idea was an awesome one. It was zoomed to the top of the development list and will be added shortly, along with I believe 4 other things that were recommended to be changed.

Evolution is a must. This simple fact has undertones in every single aspect of our life. Multiboxing programs are really no exception to this rule.

It is my goal that people will constantly look at Pwnboxer and say, "Wow, what a great application, but it could be better if ________ was added". Our strength here is knowing that we will always have a weakness, no matter how small, and that we will always strive to evolve over whatever weakness can be found.

I dunno. Key Clone is a solid program, and so is pwnboxer. Don't really see it as one being better than the other.
Pwnboxer has ease of use, prettier UI, and a fraction the startup config time.
Key Clone is cheaper long term, has a larger user base and has multiple comp support.

If you want to rate them, I'd break it down into catagories. Newbie friendly, Power, Value.

Power:Innerspace(isboxer toolkit).
You can get this program to do pretty much anything, from legal to illegal. Can say the same with the g series keyboards, so I wouldn't let that frighten you away. Not newbie friendly since most guides put setup time at 30 mins, and you haven't even scratched the surface of what you can do with it. Definitely not newbie friendly.
Cost is weird to calculate. Its cheaper than key clone if you use it on multiple pcs, but its more expensive than both key clone and pwnboxer if you only use 1 pc.
I don't use it, but a friend does and loves it. Has a 7 day free trial, but I haven't done it yet cause i'm likely to waste a day rage-gasm'n at the setup(follwing guides isn't my strong point). That said I'll probably buy it anyway for the cool stuff it can do and just suffer through the setup.

Value:Hotkeynet
Can't get better than free, plus it works with multiple computer setups. Since pwnboxer doesn't offer a trial and the setup won't make you want to kill people, its the ideal program to see if multiboxing is right for you. Personally used it and liked it. Even so, I'll probably move on to one of the pay programs after I pull the trigger on that new laptop. Heard horror stories about autohotkey (the other commonly used free one)so never tried it. Anyone with a good experience with it?

Newb Friendly:
Pwnboxer. Hands down fastest setup, prettiest UI, and just easier to find. Key clone is a close second, beating out pwnboxer on multi comp setups since.. it can't do that.(yet?)

All in all, you can't go wrong with getting any of them, pay or free. Just depends on what you're looking for and what type of setup you're going for.
People put alot of emphasis on setup, but all multiplexors work roughly the same after all that. Most of your time will be in macro/keybind setup inside wow than fiddling with a boxing tool, no matter how complex.

Ouch I didn't just get 1-up'ed, but I think he just 10-up'ed me.

Very nice, an honest unbiased opinion.

Me and you BOTH man!

Nice review, I like it!

My take on a few of those:

IS - Has some really good stuff, some really powerful features to be sure. Plus to be honest, Lax is actually a cool guy. The program has some things that scare me that could be used to bot/automate very easily, but I'm sure he is considering those things with each release.

KC - Often referred to as the "original" multiboxing program. While being old and established, it has a very large user base. But it suffers from some of the downsides of being old and established. The interface IMO is clunky, too hard to use, and the features of KC are dated at best and not friendly.

Free tools - For sure there is value in being free, no doubt As with everything, there are pros and cons. I've noticed the free tools work nice once you get them set up, but setting them up can result in several kittens dying in the process due to frusterations.

Pwnboxer - This program will cure aids, stop world hunger, and end all wars. Okay, maybe not all 3 of those, but it is by far the easiest to set up, still remains very powerful, and has a lot more features constantly being released. Plus being that it is commercial, it has a great support, and even though it is new, it has some AWESOME community.

WHEW! You have to give me some credit there for trying to be unbiased, as after all, I'm the Pwnboxer author

I've got to be honest - Im a KC user and not had many problems with it to be fair.

Before it's recent upgrade it was a little glitchy I admit, but now it runs as smooth as anything, I don't know any better/worse tbh - it simply does everything I want it to do without giving me a headache.

I will definately have to take a look at the new version of PB though as it sounds awesome.
