Default Jamba - Forward messages "Facing the wrong way" UI up for debate.

Hello,

As you might have noticed, Jamba 0.5 does not have a mechanism for forwarding UI Errors and UI Messages, such as "Out of range" and "Facing the wrong way".

In previous versions of Jamba, all the UI Errors and UI Messages were sent to the master toon. This caused some addon channel lag issues. To solve this problem, I am going to add a list where you specify which messages can be forwarded. Only those messages in the list will be passed to the master toon.

I am toying with the idea of throttling the messages as well; something like: if the master gets the same message 5 times in a second, only show the first of those messages in that second.

The question I have is how to display these messages on the master toon? Here are my ideas:

1. Forward to a Jamba Message area, so that the user can define where the messages go; i.e. to party chat or to an MSBT area.

2. Have Jamba Display Team pick up the messages and display them next to the toons name somehow.

3. Create a new UI that flashes icons next to the toons name / portrait (plugin for PitBull?) when the master gets a particular mesage from a toon. For example, maybe flash a great big red box next to the toons portrait if it is facing the wrong way.

Can you expand on what I have here? Do you a preference for one or the other? Would you like to see all 3 implemented? What are you ideas?

All feedback really appreciated, as you ultimately will end up using this (if you choose)...

Cheers,
Jafula.

I think this whole idea is absolutely excellent, and it would be a terrific add on to an already terrific addon, so to speak. I think that having jamba forwarding messages to for example the scrolling battle text would be sufficient, according to idea #1.

As to ideas #2 and #3, I would personally prefer to have the message include the name of the toon that "sends" the message. I know this makes it confusing for those with toons with similar-sounding names, but that's my preference.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing Jamba develop as I'm a fan and long-time user.

#1 is already (as far as combat text is concerned) accomplished with MIlk SCT.
#2 I use "Quest Annouance 3"
#3 sounds pretty cool IMO

I like #1 the best.
Have the message go to the window/area/frame of your choice.
And possibly configure which messages are displayed/filtered.
