invalid target problem

ok so i have a basic /assist macro set up on all my slave toons..after i get them all targeting the same mob when i go to cast my spell I get an invalid target error. If I move the spell to a different button then move it back the invalid target error goes away. Anyone have anyideas as to this issue???

Do you have your slaves set your main as focus? Have you tried something like this?

/cast [target=focustarget] lightening bolt

no i do not want to macro every spell.....i have my slaves set up with a stand alone macro to assist my main shammy in the group from that assist macro i have the actual spells set up on other keys on my num pad. please see my last post as to bindings and macro set up

Is num lock on? Why don't you just use your default action bars 1,2,3,4,5,etc.? Just curious. There is a spelling error in your macro as well.

Another thought, you could make the macro

/assist laricb
/cast Lightning Bolt

You could still have your /assist macro on NumPad1 but you wouldn't have to hit it every time your main changes targets. It would switch when your main did.

yeah not a spelling error the num pad 2 isnt a macro just be binding the key there and dropping in a spell i want. And yeah how im targeting is to face roll the assist key as my main switches targets. the reason that I have the keys bound to the num pad and not the normal keys is so that the num keys will be for outbound dps to the assist target, then the number keys will be inbound heal or special abilities to be cast on themselves.

How are you setting the keybindings? Addon or default UI?
