Hi, I wanted to get some feedback on the healing rotation for my holy priest. I use 4 spells mostly bound to 3 different keys. The first 2 are a castsequence for circle of healing and prayer of healing that I use to AEO heal my group. I use greater heal and prayer of mending intermittently on my tank. I have power word:shield bound to my pull key , and during boss fights i use target of target to throw one of those on my party members if they happen to be randomly targeted by a boss (eg Krystallus) Does the community have any feedback on this ? I know I am missing a TON of other holy spells that I am not incorporating in my sequence. Anyone can recommend a castsequence maybe for the priest like we do for the damage dealers? Thanks

I use repeater region based heals. But you could likely accomplish this with dockable clickmapping. In my case, I have a Grid frame, which displays my current group. Various clicks do different heals, with the click broadcast to the healer only. - Alt Left: Renew - Ctrl Left: Penance - Shift Left: Pain Suppression - Alt Right: PW: Shield - Ctrl Right: Flash Heal - Shift Right: Prayer of Mending I have Holy Nova on a mouse button for AoE heals, which has been more then sufficient so far.

I have 3 macros for heroics: 1, The same CoH + PoH macro 2. Flash heal ToT which also builds serendipity 3. bubble, renew, and PoM macro I also have my priest on the left side of my right moniter with healbot set up on the left edge. It's pretty easy to swing over and click a ranged for some tlc. I like PoH over nova because it also heals the tank for a large amount and serendipity

I play discipline instead of holy. Each is roughly equivalent to the other. Holy in general, is larger heals in reaction to damage dealt. And Disc is prevention of damage, by about the same margin. I really Penance, using a Penance, Flash Heal x3 rotation (in a castsequence) as the primary heal. It is worth taking a look at the priest option, whichever way your priest is built now.

i like to give disc a try i love holy because of its big heals without me having to worry about another castsequence besides my DPS one (any tips on how to both healing and dps castsequences smoothly?) BTW, is there a macro to put up shield and renew with one click or do i need to do a castsequence for that ?

To your second point, both of those abilities activate the global cooldown, so you cannot cast them simultaneously. You will have to castsequence them.

If you go Disc, it helps to know the battles a bit. Power Word: Shield, is basically no cooldown with talents. You still have a 'weakened soul' period on the target, when they cannot be re-shielded. But you can very quickly cast it across the entire team, which is great protection against AoE damage. You have a massive amount of haste on the next spell after casting PW: Shield, so PW:S >> Prayer of Healing is a good combo for the big AoE heals. Holy Nova is virtually no mana, and can be spammed continuously for a very long time, especially given the superior mana regen of Discipline combined with mana efficiency of all instant casts. Penance is instant cast, with three pulses; the first is instant, with the following two each one second apart. This gets you amazing twitch healing, far superior to any other healer. Flash Heal is quite strong with the talents you get, particularly if the target is below half. I have a castsequence, which is Penance and then Flash Heal x3. Pain Suppression is extremely powerful on the tank, anytime you know spike damage is coming. The style is a little different from Holy, but either is just as strong as the other pretty much, at least as a boxer. Discounting Bloodlust/Heroism (assume the team already has one shammy), I'd be hard pressed to pick one as superior to the other, and each are also comparable to Resto Druids for multiboxing healing.

How do Disc priests have superior mana regen? I don't see any talent points or anything that gives them any mana regen at all. Am I missing something?

And because just about every spell they use for healing/"damage prevention" (i.e. shields) is instant cast, they benefit majorly from Mental Agility - Spell - World of Warcraft there is also this for even more mana Rapture - Spell - World of Warcraft and this reduces mana cost of flash heal Improved Flash Heal - Spell - World of Warcraft and this increases your +spr which then makes Meditation linked above even better Enlightenment - Spell - World of Warcraft So they do have a talent that increases mana regem (but Holy Priests almost always take that Disc talent too because it is so high in the tree) however they have TONS of other talents to help with mana conservation/return.
