| hey everyone ![]() I am now at a lvl were my priest(lvl 80) will not be used to heal my toons, so I switched from the priest to my 72 warrior and also I am running with x3 shamans (x2 elemental, and x1 resto) in the group. I decided to do an instance, and I got creamed on the first pack of mobs (utgarde keep). I decided to change my macros around and this is what i got. /cast devastate - on warrior same key but on resto shaman /cast [target=Grimond] Lesser Healing Wave this worked for a few mobs, but I was always overhealing when I did not need a heal. I had to drink after each pull because I "wasted" all my mana healing (overhealing really). So my question (about time right lol) is this, what is the best way to heal the tank while healing at the right times and not overhealing? I am sure healing at the right time will come with practice, but I just can not get what to do with the macros I did try to just have a a different key to heal my warrior, but I found my hand was straying too far from my other keybinds and I could not tank/dps when I am trying to heal the war. looking to hear what everyone does in instances and or lvling. thanks |

| Well, I am not sure how you are doing it. I personally have a Paladin tank macro that I use. This has the spells I need to hold the mobs focus. On that same key binding I have the dps spam for my shamans. I heal with a priest right now so I can not speak to shamans. I PW:S and renew with the spam button and have the button right next to it with my other heal button. I use that as needed and have no real issue over healing. If I was on my shaman I would not bind a key to the same key I have my tank and dps on, or I would add a modifier like alt to activate the heal macro. Just some thoughts

| Senior Member | this is how i do all my keybord/macro in the post Queen Nothing - Awesome Multiboxing Keyboard/Macro compilation - Long read but the healing part just to brack it down i use 1+2 to dps 3 is tank heal (nice and close) then mumpad 1234 to heal the group i allways invite my chars in the set group so i know what key heals what toon then i jump from my mouse to mumpad to heal the toon 90% of out times its olny on boss fights that the clones need healing as i find, or ripping argo if there doing that they get beats!

| With ISBoxer I can set up repeater regions, where mouse clicks are broadcast within the window. The priest receives these clicks and has an addon combo like Grid + Clique in that position. That is the strongest heal combination I've found. I'm not sure the extend of Pwnboxer's mouse broadcasting, but if you can do something like this, its an amazing way to heal. Even with macro's though, give the priest 2-3 macro's for heals. Put these on keybinds which aren't used by any other toon. The format will be: #show Renew <Insert Assist Method> /cast [help] Renew; [help, target=targettarget] Renew; [help, target=targettargettarget] Renew This will have the Priest heal the tank's target if that is friendly, or the target of the tank's target if the tank's target is hostile. These will cover 90% of the heals you need, and you'll have Prayer of Healing and or Holy Nova for AoE supplemental heals. I'd probably go with Renew, Penance or Flash Heal and Prayer of Healing. If you go with Penance, have Jamba strobe follow as that Penance breaks follow. If you're using Click Castsequences, which is a very strong option for maximum DPS, consider placing the "spam" key on say 1 and 2, for the tank and DPS. Then create a DPS click key for the priest on 1 but not on 2. So you can spam 1, for everyone to DPS or spam 2 for everyone but the priest to DPS -- which means the priest can heal via the macro's you have made. |

| This I think is the most challenging part of boxing. Healing basicaly can not be macro'd. Now I dont mean you cant use macros to help you, but you cant setup one button to spam or setup one rotation of spells to cast. Of the three "modes" you have to pay attention to healing is more or less the only one that is unpredictable. Tanking you can pretty much run the same spells over and over, example on my prot pally... Avenger Shield, Holy sheild, Hammer of righteousness, Judgement, Sheild of righteousness and pretty much repeat that sequnce and thats all he does.... ever.... regardless of almost anything thats going on, that will almost always cut it. DPSing on my eley shaman its pretty much Flame shock, Lava Burst, Lightning bolt x4 (or was it 5? well what ever), then repeat. But Healing you have to react to what is going on. In all honesty I just simple havent figured out a sucessful way to do this yet, But once Pwnboxer 2.0 is fully functional with keymapping I have several ideas on how I can make a setup that works for me. I have tried some of the suggestions that many of our experts have been successful with but so far anyway I just cant get it down. Once I redo mysetup with the new pwnboxer i'll let ya know what I have planned if i get it working.

| A Click Castsequence is a single button which we spam. It calls several other castsequences in order. Well, calls them all at once, but the first to use a GCD fires off and the others cannot. I've seen macro's where a druid will chain cast Rejuvenation on each party member in sequence. One guy (druid team) made one where each druid would Lifebloom themself (and because of the timing comma's) re-Lifebloom as it expired. They would also keep 4x Rejuvenation, and Lifebloom x3 rolling on the tank. Granted most of the time, this is a severe waste of mana, but for boss fights its supplemental healing and each toon can dps. A tree would have far superior group heals, but their dps would stink. |

| ok a little update, I been changing and trying to optimize my macros and it works out ok. I have a g11 keyboard, so i use g7-g8-g9-g12 for warrior abilities and lightning bolts on my elemental shamans. I just made keys g10-g11 for lesser healing wave and riptide(should i put a different spell here rather then riptide?) basically I did utagarde keep again, few deaths from not holding aggo or healing at the right time. I got up to prince and well I could not even put a dent in him, tomb of ice is problem. gotta figure out how to beat him, wonder if I can target the tomb of ice or would I have to target the player then cast/hit the ice? so long story short, I am getting a little better, but I feel I am still not were I want to be. I see videos of ppl just owning instances (tim ) and I can not even get through trash on a normal run hehe.i'll take a look at castsequences for healer. thanks for the info everyone |

| Senior Member | I have been bucking the 'heal by region' trend, the same way I did with FTL. When I finally switched from focus to FTL I was utterly amazed at how much better it was. I assume that my switch to heal by region with clicks will be the same type of epiphany. I am a visual person so I have to see someone do something before I get the hang of it. That being said, I have cleared most heroics by just having a totally separate key for tank heals that I spam when needed.

| I believe you can put "/target icy tomb" into your dps macro. On the other forum, someone had listed their dps macro. And there were 3-4 ... /target something ... lines in there, to cover just about all the special things in heroics. So your spam key has the dps assisting the tank (whether assist, target=targettarget, target=focustarget, FTL etc) as you spam away at the tanking macro (their dps key, on the same keybind). But when icy tomb is up, they automatically cast at it, as that /target line appears after their assist line. I'll see if I can dig up the information. |
