I like to spread mine out to the left/right. Then I move my main forward a bit and hit my /follow key. They end up making a nice curve with my main as the center of attention.

Ok are there any slash commands for movement or do you have to set them up using the key bindings? I set them up using different key bindings each using a different Alt + key such as ALt + W going starfe right/left and back. It works pretty good except occassionally after pressing ALT + W my toons keep on going. Why is this? Am I pressing the key too long or sticky keys or what? Usually a second ALT + W stops them, but usually the damage is done and am in combat somewhere.

Im probably gonna use my G keys for this. I kida plan on using my G keys for most slave actions anyways. Just keep forgetting my purpose and continue questing.

There are no slash commands for movement.

What I have done is this. I have ASDW keys not passed, but I leave my arrow keys available.

I have my z key set as strafe left on toon 1, strafe right on toon 2, backup on toon 3, and nothing on toon 4. I hit z for about .5 second and then pop a function I have on my mouse which is assigned to key Down Arrow, which breaks follow.

You end up with..

.....X
1...4...2
.....3

With InnerSpace (or any software that can configure keymaps with multiple steps), you can make a line spread out macro on one key, pressed twice.

You could accomplish the same thing strictly by assigning Keybinds within warcraft.

My Keymap sends Q to two toons and E to two toons on the first press, and for as long as I hold the hotkey. The second press sends Q to one of the first two who moved left and E to one of the two who moved right.

You could hold Q and E for a moment, having unbound strafe the other direction on each pair, and then press a secondary keybind for strafe left/right, which is only set on two toons. Alternatively, have four toons use F12 as their strafe keybind, each pair strafing a different direction on the same keybind. Then repeat but only one of each pair.

You can do a line, from front to back instead of side to side, with the same principle.

A basic spread out macro is a good idea for PvP as well as Heroics/Raids.
Have each toon move in a different direction.

I have a keymap which moves two toons forward and two toons backwards.
It also has one of each toon strafe left, with the other strafing right.
Basically the same as pressing QW, WE, QS, and ES for four toons at once on one hotkey.
This gets a star like formation, with the active/hot toon stationary in the middle.

While not exactly a formation, it belongs in the independent movement category... I have a Keymap where on the first press (step 1) each toon gets the keybind for Interact With Target. On the second press (step 2) each toon gets the down arrow key, which breaks their movement towards the Interact Target. Very useful for recovery from a fear bomb.
