Default beginner macro issue

I just finished setting up basic macros, however when I click a target and press the button for /assist focus, my alt character doesn't select the same target. Also my alt character won't use his attack ability that i have placed in the same slot as my main. Any help would be great

Be more explicit please. Like;

I have a macro /assist party1 on button one and /cast lightning bolt on button 2. What exactly do you have?

I setup exactly how it was shown in the youtube video that has you setup in less than 5 min. The problem is that I click numpad 1 (this works) and when I click numpad 2, a red message pops up in the top middle of the screen. I forgot the exact words but it says it was invalid or something along those lines. Numpad 3 which is /assist focus doesn't work and shows the same message.

The weird thing is when i press numpad 5, which is a buff spell for the warlocks, works fine as both cast it at the same time. However the warlock starting attack ability doesn't activate for my alt character.

I selected a target and pressed the macro button for /assist focus but my alt char does nothing. Hopefully that was a bit more detailed. The main issue here is my alt char thats following me won't attack the target I have selected and a red two-worded message pops up saying the command doesn't work.

I'm having the exact same problem, focus works and follow, but not assist or healing wave.

Make sure focus is set, Like Carbs said above me, and that read error is saying the function you want to do isnt working. There is probably an error with the Macro. For your warlock a starting macro could look like this:
Code:
/assist focus
/cast Shadow Bolt
I have had it do nothing before because of an extra space between the word cast and the spell name etc. Also make sure those other keys are in your broadcast list, which they should be, and then finally make sure you assigned those keys on each of your party members. Like that your warlock has a key assigned to his macro. I have forgotten to assign a keystroke to macro on half my toons before.

when I used focus it used this:

/cast [target=focustarget,nodead] Shadow Bolt

This worked very well on most spells, but no so well on channeling spells

When you say "Make sure focus is set", what exactly do you mean? (sorry if that sounds really dumb-founded). I haven't had a chance to try some of the changes you guys gave with long work hours but I'll try it all first thing in the morning. Thanks for all the help thus far.
