Default Addon: Anyone use Aloft?

Interesting nameplate replacement addon. Lots to config.

Aloft (Beta) : WoWInterface Downloads : Beta-version AddOns

Anyone have any experience with it? Pros, cons, likes, dislikes?

I can vouch for Aloft. It's a great replacement for the stock Blizzard nameplates. You can actually configure Aloft to the point where the nameplate can replicate a Pitbull player/target frame. Personally, I prefer a simplistic style and only changed the health bar skin and enlarged the health frame to make targeting much easier.

You're not losing anything by trying it out for yourself so go ahead and do yourself a favor by installing this addon.

Wow!! This looks really nice!

Is it easier to select than the standard Blizzard ones?

The default Aloft settings resemble the default Blizzard nameplates. You can customize the height and width of the health bars to make them easier to select. If you'd like, you can make the health bars into large squares. Keep in mind though that a large amount of enemies or NPCs onscreen will clutter your UI. Unfortunately, I'm not at my PC to demonstrate Aloft, but I will ASAP.

PS There are ALoft modules that let you include other features to the nameplate such as mana bars and even threat bars. Be sure the try out these modules as well before you make your final decision as to whether or not you'll use Aloft in your custom UI.

This does look like it has a lot of potential. Could you put it up on your guy and make a short video of using it in say, a battleground please?

Unfortunately, I'm not great at time management and my simple demonstration video turned into 10 minutes so you'll have to settle for an image.

Keep in mind that nameplates in general within battlegrounds can bombard your screen with unnecessary clutter especially when totems and pets get into the picture. Aloft, in its entirety, is just as customizable as Bartender and PitBull: borders, textures, colors, and sizes can all be modified to your playing preferences.

I use something similar but it's named evl_NamePlates, and use 2 kb of memory.
I'm a very fan of lightweight addons, and don't like the memory-efficient mods that use up an extraordinary amount of CPU time
