Default [WoW Guide] Using the Neutral AH to transfer gold

Transfering Gold

(via the Neutral Auction House)

You are charged two fees when you use an auction house in wow.

The first fee is the listing fee, which is a deposit.
This fee is based off of the vendor price of your item.
If the item sells you get all of this back.
If the item fails to sell, you forfeit this amount.

The second fee is the auction fee.
For the faction specific auction houses this is a flat 5% of the final sale price.
For the neutral auction houses, this is a flat 15% of the final sale price.

If you plan to use the auction house to transfer wealth, you will need at least 2 accounts (you cannot buy from your own account).
But I wouldn't recommend going this route with less then 4 accounts.

There are neutral auction houses in:
-- Booty Bay, by the bank/mailbox.
-- Booty Bay, the lowest level of the house closest to the inn.
-- Everlook (Winterspring)
-- Gadgetzan (The only building that goes underground)

You will want a toon at each of these places, to ensure there is no one else at any of the Neutral Auctioneers.
No one at any auctioneer means, only you will be buying your items.

You will want to transfer enchanting mats.
They have no vendor value, and therefore the listing fee is basically nothing.
I believe I'm charged 1 copper per stack at the neutral AH's.
So you could list with a basically broke level 5 alt, which you have RAF summoned somewhere.

You can list the items for whatever you want, but lower is better.
You end up charging 20 copper per auction, even if you list something for 1 copper.
When you're the only buyer at the neutral AH, you'll list everything at 1 copper buyout price.
You definitely want a buyout price, so your opposite faction toon can buy immediately.

Auctioneer greatly helps, because of the Appraiser feature.
You can control how much to list each item for, how many are in the stack and how many stacks you will list.
Further, the buyer should have the auction window already open.
With the search terms filled in, so you just have to click search.
Which is less time for someone to approach a neutral auctioneer and snipe your stuff.

Another option is to faction change a toon, from your current faction to the other side.
This is available from the account management page.
The fee is $30, per character. And there is a 3-day cooldown before you can transfer back.

The Blizzard FAQ can be found here: Blizzard Support

Based on your level, you can transfer a variable amount of gold:

- Level 10-30: 00,300 gold limit
- Level 31-50: 01,000 gold limit
- Level 51-69: 05,000 gold limit
- Level 70-80: 20,000 gold limit
