| Senior Member | Now, I will admit in advance that I am not a Trekkie, I own the "TNG movies", but I don't know the overall lore. Its with my prior enjoyment with the Star Trek universe that I picked up the Star Trek movie that is supposed to reboot the whole series (i assume). I am unsure how the whole fan base felt about the movie, since with all reboots/remakes they jazzed it up for the younger generation. In many movies this becomes a distraction, trying to struggle with the give and take of the established lore and trying to factor in the new details that don't entirely make sense to a person's prior characteristics. I guess they fixed that problem with this series as it is an alternate timeline that they did not decide to fix. As I'm pressed for time, I will plainly state that I felt that this was a pretty damn good attempt at a reboot and I doubt that they could have done a better job. The movie kept my attention the entire time. It also gave the entire cast plenty of screen time, which can become quite a troublesome task to fit that many character's into a plot that needs to lay the groundwork for further movies while dealing with the current plot. And to give the plot/characters such depth that you care. I will say this movie will easily rank among my personal favorites because it was well rounded and didn't feel like it had any terribly weak points. What did you think? |

I have seen every episode of every series at least 3-4 times, and own ALL the movies (inlcluding any directors cuts or special editions). They release a lil "prequel" info to this new movie in the form of 4 comic books, which I bought and read. I thought the new Star Trek movie was exceptionally BAD ASS... They found an actor who was able to capture Kirk's "I dont give a **** attitude", an actor who captured Scotty's "craziness" and so on... and HOLY **** does Zachary Quinto look like Leonard Nemoy as Spock or what? The overall story line was great too, and if you are huge fan like me there was a **** ton of easter eggs throughout the whole movie... I LOVED IT

| Senior Member | Indeed, I felt that they were very particular with their script. It felt like it belonged in the series. Although, again I am not a hardcore fan so I guess I really wouldn't know specifically... but just from what I've seen. I will admit that the Chekov character's voice work felt a little weak and distracting... but that would be my only complaint. |
