Most helpfull peace of advice

Heard this asked on the Radio today,
Got me thinking and wondering,

Whats the best peace of advice you've ever been given???

Well, back when i was in school i must've gotten in trouble with 1 of my mates, i remember we was sent to the head teachers office, and he suddenly burst out laughing, i was like Err dude why you laughing, then he told me

'If you dont laugh about it, You'll cry about it'

Dunno why but ive always remember'd this, and it has helped me out in a good few Situations.

Got any advice thats helped you, you would like to share?

When I was about 17 years old, my boss at an internet provider told me that he could tell I was smart and that I'd go a long ways. He said though that there was one big thing holding me down. He said that I didn't care about the people around myself enough, that I saw each person as a tool to help craft and end result, and that I should take notice of who I work with, especially in the least to ask their names and try and remember it.

I still think that was a good piece of advice. Now if only I could remember my old bosses name...
