| I enjoy Actionscript quite a bit..... I am a network engineer by trade and was involved with lots of server automation projects using VBScript and now PowerShell. These are very functional languages, but they are not what you will call 'sexy.' I was introduced to Flash and Actionscript a few years back and realized that programming could be fun as well as functional. The combination of the visual design elements and code continues to hold my interest. It has also helped my fluency in more traditional curly brace languages (primarily C#).

| Personally the first language I learned was LibertyBASIC and that was a year ago in eigth grade. Right now I'm honing my C++ skittles til finals are done and I can actually crack open my 800 page compendium on C++. I'm trying to get one of my sister's friends (works with ASUS) to teach me and help me memorize the language. I plan to learn some form of Java and then look into game addon languages

| This will offend the purists (who think you should only do object-oriented in scheme anyway) but I'd suggest you take on java first and work back to C++. The inheritance rules and interface definitions are much cleaner/simpler (other than all the netbeas crap). PS Objective-C, SMalltalk-80 or LISP anyone?

| Super Moderator | Ahh yes, good old objective-c. I have to learn it because Apple likes to be all closed development and such.
