I like the ideas Lindline but I'm thinking a little modification. What if all servers were both PVE and PVP, in that a user cound "flag" themselves on something like a 1 week cooldown. So they can turn on PVP, but it takes a week to turn on, or they can turn off PVP, and it takes a week to turn off.

Also, what about special quests, maybe even world raid bosses, that require PVP flags?

OK now i fet where you are coming from. I defenately see how that could work. Its very loose ended but i didnt realize that real people play the games and could make guilds or band together to fight for survival on their own. On a side note, I have played EVE but didnt like the style of it, if they incorperated what EVEs PVP system was like into a more action/adventure game (WOW) it would work hella good ill bet.

I dont like the idea of a toggleable flag, even with that heavy cooldown. I don't want to give the farmers any kind of sense of safety due to basic game mechanics. If you're going to be farming the most expensive and rare stuff (which would naturally be located in the Free-for-all zones) then you're leaving yourself open for attack. Heck, in EVE (yes, going back to EVE) you had to have a specialized ship setup just to mine ore. So if you're off on the fringes, you need some friends with gunships to cover your butt while you make everyone loads of money.

I like massive worlds. When I'm playing Fallout 3 and I see an abandoned power station, or Elder Scrolls IV and I see a cave, I want to explore and see what I can find. This could be incorporated into a MMO where the caves (randomly generated, not the same copy and paste used in a certain game *cough cough*) have monsters and loot. However, the game wouldn't have instances. This means that some caves you come to might be empty. Of course, the loot and monsters would respawn after a certain amount of time.

The world also changes with time. Not only with day and night, but with Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall as well. Creekbeds dry up in the Summer, revealing new caves to explore. Lakes freeze over in Winter so players can walk on top of them to access islands. Cave opening could also freeze over, forbidding access until Spring. The water level rises in the Spring to account for the rain and floods the season may bring. Heck, the moon could also be involved creating tides. Some caves are washed out during high tide and wide open during low tide. Some bosses would only be available during low tide, which could lead to an epic CRAB BATTLE!)

A free-for-all based PvP system would be interesting, and possibly quite fun. You can attack anybody except for your own guildmates (and maybe groupmates). There are no "factions" per se. Your character will always be PvP flagged (except in major cities? or other "safe" zones). When you die, you respawn at predetermined points with an invincibility buff that grants you full immunity from all damage for a set period of time, or until you attack something).

TL: DR version: massive world like Elder Scrolls IV and Fallout 3, FFA PvP System, seasons, tides.

I'm a huge fan of massive worlds like Fallout 3 and Elder Scrolls. Any MMO if I somehow was involved would take some nods from those games.

Full-Loot pvp: you have something i want i kill you and take it

JTV mods = game gms :P and you need to pay us ^.^

dunno how it would work but if you had different races or nations then one player should be able to become leader of that faction/race/nation with alot of hard work and also help with city building so its really like what a leader of a town or city or even kingdom that would be built with npc builders so real players dont need to be bored with building a wall all day but it should take about 2 or 3 weeks imo to build a whole town and also with this would add a politics system to the game e.g the King of a race being a player ofc sets into motion a plot to kill a leader of another faction then the memers of the noble houses that would be players who have proven them selfs to the king ( also gms equal noble of race they choose when making their in game char)must agree with the king in order to do so the members of the noble houses will also be kill able apart from the GMs if the nobles however disagree their should be a type of assassins guild (more players ofc :P)that can be hired kill other nobles, kings, queens, faction leaders etc not all the nobles, kings, queens, faction leaders can be killed all at once or it would mess up the game mechanics.
if a faction is totally wiped out then an npc of that faction from another land should spawn about a week after so it seems like he had to travel to get there that allows people to rejoin that faction in the area.
Joining the faction would make any other person who has join them to be friendly and group-able with each other aslong as they are both in the same faction no matter what race.

also i would like it if you could dye your own armor to the colour you wanted so you dont have to look like a rainbow warrior e.g WoW: TBC.

and to be able to have a set of armor on for display and this it what you char looks like in armor but no stats taken from the items worn and another set that stats are taken from.

Spelling and punctuation is probably all mess'd up but heres my 5 cents
