| Senior Member | As of this past patch I've noticed gems fall 30g or more each. I can assume this is from the overall increase of gems from Honor for turning in marks as well as the fact that you can now get eternals via frozen orbs. What I am wondering is if the price will ever go back to before or not.... what do you all think? |

| Probly go up alittle after a while, but my best guess is the overall value of items will start to drop soon with cata soon (as in "near future" as Blizzard always tells us) to be released as beta and all. Edit: Just read what I wrote and it made no sense at all what-so-ever. I can re-write if you don't understand.

| I've not really noticed much of a difference. I start my gems at 237g, if no one else has that cut. And will go down to 150g per gem, always undercutting by 1 copper. For the most part, gems sell in the 175-200g range. If a given cut for say King's Amber falls too low, I just stop cutting that gem for the day and do the other five cuts I have instead. Just about every day, there are 2-3 cuts which no one has listed. I'll do more then an even share of transmutes for that gem type, and most of them sell before there's a whole lot of competition. |

| The thing to remember is that the gem prices were bloated thanks to 3.3. People needed to gem up their free epics. Now, the race has died down and most people who were in a frenzy over getting geared fast (and gemmed fast) have gottened geared up. Things might pick up with the minor raid content coming up.

| Senior Member | I was thinking of saving for Cataclysm but idk... really depends if they plan to make even higher gems or if they plan to go into a different direction with professions. |

| Fairly high population, Cenarius. It was one of the six which were available on opening day. With each new influx of gear, be it a raid zone or arena season, enchants and gems (along with their mats) go up in value. I would imagine new gem recipes and enchants in Cataclysm, along with new recipes for other professions too. On the Cataclysm info page, trade skills will be raised to a 525 skill cap. Each previous expansion has completely reset the gearing, rather then say EQ's model of a 20-30% increase to 1/3rd of your gear, but 2/3rds Best in Slot being from the previous two expansions. It makes sense for new gems, enchants, glyphs etc.. to be included, but probably looking rather different then the current set up, given the changes to stats and such. |
