For the most part, gems sell in the 175-200g range. If a given cut for say King's Amber falls too low, I just stop cutting that gem for the day and do the other five cuts I have instead.

Just about every day, there are 2-3 cuts which no one has listed. I'll do more then an even share of transmutes for that gem type, and most of them sell before there's a whole lot of competition.

I also think so.

In the last few days, gems seem to have gone down in value.
On average, probably quite a bit more then 30g.

But gems are still quite profitable, especially if you don't list against people selling at stupidly low prices.
If they want to sell one type of blue gem at 110g each, I sell a different type of blue gem for 165g each.
I honestly don't care if I only sell four types of gems, as long as one type of each color is moving and selling for a decent amount on a given day.

I sell my uncut gems at whatever the low price is on Tueday night. I save my gems in week bulk and only do Cardinal Rubies. Since as of right now I have 8 possible Alchemists with only 1 able to Xmute thus far. I figure the quick selling feeds me the gold I need to buy up the herbs I need for my other alchemists. Once all 8 are xmute masters, I plan to watch the market and be more thorough in my analysis and listings.

I really just don't have the heart to farm thousands of herbs.... so much easier to buy lol.

I definitely went the buying route too.

Was doing dailies on three teams initially.
And buying enough herbs for one alchemist.

Then slowed down to dailies on two teams.
And buying herbs for a single alchemist, over two days.

Once transmutes/cuts became more gold then dailies, I've been using that entirely to fund the alchemy.
With dailies becoming more sporadic as time goes by.
I've got over 2000 dailies done on each member of three teams... which is plenty; one thousand dailies was an achievement, but 2000 was not.

Depending on the market, I'm making from 3k to 5k a day, entirely on gems.
And have most of the mats for the next 10 alchemists already, just buying whatever I don't have when it is cheap.
The Priests are two good sessions away from 68th; but I need to log them in... they've had a three day break.
