The Daily Recommendation

Hey all,

I'm trying to get some traffic to my new site. It's based on my recommendations in various media categories. The links I place are to official sites which may include IMDB or Wikipedia as alternate sources so that I'm not linking to Walmart or any other commercial outlet if I can help it. This is just for fun and I plan to keep it going for as long as I can. I want to help people find new sources of entertainment that they may otherwise skip over. Though occasionally I will recommend things that are more popular, my idea is to make my base as broad as possible.

Again, this is for fun and something that I can easily do daily. If this post breaks any of the forum rules, please feel free to delete, my intentions are not to offend or otherwise break them.

What if you were also to write more in depth reviews of what you would recommend? That would help a lot, especially to get Google to push traffic to your site!

Currently away from home, a much needed vacation after a long holiday work grind. I do plan to edit site, to modify and improve upon it as I go. I have some notes that I have written down already. I may drop the book category since I have not read as many books as this site would require.

With TV and Movies, I have already written down about 300+ of each, I just picked up about 4 Notebooks to flesh out reviews. Now the thing is, I am debating on keeping it written or if I'll audiocast it or vlog it. I need to see what my camera presence is like. All in all, I'm having fun and that is what this is all about.

In the meantime, I update the page everyday. Knowing that I would be away, I premade all my lists so all I have to do is press post when the day arrives.

Okay, do this and I believe you could potentially have an amazingly large website:

Watch movies on Netflix and write up reviews on a per-movie basis!

That is it!

I have done a pretty large amount of research, including my own personal need, and found that the viability for a Netflix streaming movie review site to be pretty substancial. There would be a lot of involvement for how the reviews are written, standardized format, how to group them, search them, etc., that are extremely important, but if you nail it right, the site could be huge.

I like that idea, my purpose is to attempt to recommend without fully reviewing a film, this way I don't release any spoilers. I feel that many people, including myself, absolutely hate going to find out the general tone and subject matter of a film and end up getting blasted by spoilers.

Added another post to my site just now. I know I need a lot of work on how I structure my writing, I never did that well in Language Arts. Sentence structure is quite a weakness of mine.

If your serious about making it a popular site, try getting your own domain, get a website hosting, use wordpress, make a great design, standardize your format of rating things, add some graphics for each review, categorize things (ie, reviews for sci-fi, fantasy, action, etc).
