Default Anyone using Win 7? Killed my FPS ideas?

I was previously running Vista 64bit and running my 5 box team I was still able to get upwards of 20 fps on my main window with other four being dropped down.

I just upgraded to windows 7 and running A SINGLE (not multiboxing, just one) instance of wow I get 10 fps ... ALL THE TIME... im getting 10 fps at the login screen

I've tried the latest release as well as the beta version of the Nvidia drivers with no change.

I changed around the preformance settings in Nvidia control panel as well as disabled the windows aero interface (which I was able to leave on with no decrease in FPS in vista) and that didnt help any either.

If I drop all the settings in wow down all the way (leaving resolution at my monitor standard 1920x1200) i get 10 fps..... if i crank the settings up all the way I get .. again 10 fps

I am at a complete lose here and was hoping someone who has been running windows 7 might be able to give me some further ideas .

Brief system specs
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
Intel Q6600 2.4Ghz running at 3.15Ghz
5GB Ram
2x 500GB 7200 RPM sata drives (one for the OS, one for WoW)
TWO Nvidia 8800 GTS cards (SLI disabled I run 3 monitors, main on one card, and the other two off the 2nd card)

So you are currently using three monitors to multibox, correct?

Well yes, but thats besides the point atm, previously I had my 4 boxers on my right monitor, my main window on my main screen in the center, and vent + other stuff on the smaller one on the left.

But I am not even trying to run more than one instance of wow just yet. This is all running just ONE char solo

And its definetly A WoW issue... *sigh* Just finished installing Operation Flash Point : Dragon Rising, which is frankly a FAR more demanding game Hardware wise and Im pushing 105 fps in their menu and 40-60 fps in the game it self.

Are you running these all from the same drive/folder? Sounds like the last WoW instance you closed was set at 10 fps.

Here are the console commands to set fps and background fps.

Code:
/console maxfps 60
/console maxfpsbk 10
Type those into a chat window and see if you get better performance.

This sounds like normal WoW here, certain areas and conditions are giving you mixed performance.

A possible solution ( worked for me)

I had a similar problem, 4 of my wow instances were clocking 20-25fps and 1 was just flat 10fps, I tried everything you would normally go through to find the issue ( removed addons / adjust video etc).

I have been playing wow for about 4 and a bit years over that time I have generated in excess of 40 toons on different servers. when I started to MB I copied this wow version 4 times to make 5 instances. So basically all 5 instances had a WTF directory that referenced the above chars.

I took the drastic action of deleting the WTF and cache folders from each of the instances and bingo all 5 instances are now running at 60fps ( this has been about 6 weeks now not a problem )

"Warning!, Warning! Danger Will Roberston" the down side is you have to reconfigure you UI again on all instances you macros should be stored server side so that is not a issue, but for the FPS gain it was well worth the 30mins - 1hr to restore the setup.

Note Please only try this is all else fails
