Default XP Users having problem with latest Pwnboxer? Read here!

(Tim edit: Hey guys, I've found the issue, for now please download this version of Pwnboxer:

http://pwnboxer.com/downloads/pwnbox...01.0206.01.zip

)

Hi,

I have just a few days ago updated to the new version of pwnboxer, and unfortunately i did not save a copy of the old version. For some reason there are some graphical problems with the pwnboxer window. A part of the rightside of the window has a semi transparent window that when clicked on either adds an additional Game or removed one.

I have tried to update graphicsdrivers, vcredist_x86.exe and remove and re-configure my mappings several times but to no effort. Is this a known problem with XP? How do I proceed? and is there a place where I can download a previous version until there is a fix to this problem?

Thx

(Tim/Admin edit: I sniped your post subject line for others to read if they have the same prob

Hey guys, I've heard a few reports of this now.

Could everybody who is having this problem confirm for me the following:

What OS? (eg, Windows XP, Vista)
What version of DirectX?
Is your Windows fully patched?
Are you using the latest version of Pwnboxer?

From what I am hearing, it seems to be an Windows XP problem, but I can't confirm just yet.

HOWEVER, this version doesn't have the issue: http://pwnboxer.com/downloads/pwnbox...01.0206.01.zip so please go ahead and download that for now.

UPDATE: Please take screenshots and post a link to imageshack.us for full screen screenshots.

UPDATE #2: Before you respond, make sure you have the information requested above, it is needed to evaluate the issue.

Hi,

I am not sure but I believe that it might have something to do with the C++ vcredist_x86.exe. I am running XP with all updates on my machine. The problem is that the + and - for adding more instances of wow is gone and replaced with a semi transparent window that sometimes fills most of the pwnboxer window and at other times fills only the right side of the window. I also experience issues starting the games. The pwnboxer window is updated as if had started the game but only the pwnboxer chat/browser window appears. If I then stop all games I can sometimes successfully start them on the second attempt

Thanks

Okay I've done some digging and I believe it is due to a WTL error with XP missing a couple key files. I'm still digging into it, but as I mentioned above, just get the prior Pwnboxer release and you'll be fine.

I am having the same problem on XP, but I noticed the config file is being saved with 0 as the number of games. If I edit the file and replace it with 2 and start pnwboxer it works fine, but every time I quit, the file resaved with 0.

Fantastic observation!

Everybody who is having this prob and wants to use the latest PB, keep this in mind!

If you don't want to edit the file, just use the PB linked in this thread.

I've narrowed the bug problem down to some core window component differences, an update will be forthcoming.
