Default Vista VS XP?

Hey everyone, Need some opinons I am running a p4 2.8 northwood that I can oc to 3.5 stable once I get my board back from RMA

I have been using xp, but I have a chance to get vista from school at a discount. Is it worth it? My system only have 2 gig of ram, and I'm guessing that vista would eat a lot of it.

It's not a necessity to have vista, but I would like to know if there is any advantages to it over xp.

Happy Boxing!

Well for 2 GB of RAM, 100%, without a doubt, no question, go XP.

Vista alone on my system uses 1.6GB after a clean install. XP uses 86MB

As long as you are under 3gigs ram with your total system i would stay on XP.
And if you are above 3gigs...well wait for win7 ^^
serious now, vista has only advantages if you want to use a 64 bit system and really need that much ram iE video editing , 3d modelling etc

just my two cents

i would say the simple fact that you can use the mklink cmd in vista/win7 warrants usage if you arent already : )

(mklink is godlike for boxers and creating multiple installations, being able to reroute data/fonts/interface folders from each install to just have one master)
