| Try running WoW repair, and then making sure you aren't using Recount. |

| Senior Member | I want to know how I can run Recount across all 5 characters from the same WoW install without ever really clearing out my cache or anything and never have a single problem...

| I ran into this issue I believe it was 4 days ago myself. My setup: 4x Pallies on 1x WoW install which is copied over from my standard WoW install folder that I've had since 2005. My problem: I would load up all 4 WoWs just fine. Then about 30-240 seconds into the game, game window #3 would freeze up. This happened every single time, literally over 10 times in a row. I've seen this before many times so I decided to take a more analytical approach. This is what I did: Rebooted - Crash still happened (hey, its the #1 rule to trying to fix things heh) Cleared cache - Crash still happened Moved WoW installs to a diff drive - Crash still happened Defragged original drive - Crash still happened Ran WoW repair tool then copied back my addons - Crash still happened Reinstalled Pwnboxer - Crash still happened Used the 3 prior verions of Pwnboxer - Crash still happened Used new Pwnboxer configuration - Crash still happened I Disabled WoW mods, 1 at a time, and re-ran WoW. I had 32 addons total. Every time the game would crash except when I had the Recount addon disabled. Removed Recount from my addon folder - Wow starts and runs perfectly. Readd Recount to my addon folder - Same WoW window would crash So for me, for this scenario, the exact reason why Recount would crash WoW doesn't really matter, however, what really mattered was that when I removed Recount, the crashes would stop happening. Further, I've had over a dozen people email/PM/post on the forums about crashing, and having them remove Recount all solved their problems. Now that isn't to say that using Recount makes you crash 100%, no, because I have had other multiboxing groups whereas recount works fine. So whatever the reason, if you have Recount and you crash, I do know that removing Recount stops WoW from crashing. EDIT: Just for kicks I re-added recount to my 4x Pally setup, and sure enough, crash |
