Default Setting up max FPS & background FPS

Heyhey.

So i tried setting up like this:

toon1: 60 fps, background 15
toon2: 60 fps, background 15
toon3: 60 fps, background 15
toon4: 60 fps, background 15
toon5: 60 fps, background 15.

I currently have 5 screen on one screen.

When i swith from toon1 (big window), to toon2 (toon2 window becomes the big window), why is toon2 window so slow in fps? Thought it would switch from 15 to 60??

Anyone pls share theyre experience from numbers they have used.

It should switch, sometimes you need to click on the window of the new toon, after the PiP switch. The change is not instant for me, but fairly quick depending on system strain and such.

I was using 30 FPS and 12 background FPS, when I has a quad core system. And am using 60 FPS and 20 background FPS with the newer system.

My monitor has a 60 hertz refresh rate, so there is no point in raising the FPS of the main window beyond 60, as no matter what it reports the FPS, I won't get more then 60. Not really sure on the level to set the background windows to, as too slow can impact /Follow, but with IS Boxer the windows are too tiny to do much beyond glance at to see if a toon is still following (although Jamba reports follow breaks too).

Tyvm for the reply.

It just accurd to me, since i started to use pwnboxer ive used the 4 other toons window to the right of the screen (they are quite large).
Atleast so i can see them, target loot etc.

Just realized: since ive managed to setup my FTL now il try make those 4 windows "tiny" and instead switch window to loot.
Il try it when i get back home and reply with a update!

Hi all again.

Its been fun multiboxing so far

I have some related FPS questions, maybe others have any insight.

Since i started using pwnboxer i soon discovered that to solve my biggest fps issues i made sure that i right clicked f.ex game window nr 1, then enabled "stick this window in foreground". I have all the others windows (unticked) on this. This makes my main window runs smootly and the others bad, but its ok. The downside of this is if my main dies in window 1 and i have to swap window to make a new main, that window will not be in forground, and thus have low fps, hehe.

I tried enabling all windows to have "stick this window in foreground" to check it, and low and behold, the others runs smootly. Ofc this eats memory etc a lot.

(on a sidenote: "stick this window in foreground" wasnt enabled as "default" when i first started boxing. It should prob be mentioned as there maybe are others that doesnt know about this little trick to boost fps.

May i ask please, those that box more than 5 characters on a "imba" computer:

How many windows do you have "stick this window in foreground" enabled on, and what kind of background / foreground fps do you have?

Rock on :-D

What do your max/background FPS setting show in Pwnboxer for each game? I think you probably should tweak that based on what you have said. Start with 60/60 in all and go from there based on your PC specs.

At the moment im fiddling around. Its true as u said, everyones system is different and i guess its trial and error to figure out what works best.

I just tried for the lol to not limit the frames ingame and in pwnboxer for my main window. It worked like a charm and its very nice for 5manning on my pc. Ran thru crowded city, was great.

Usually i run with 45 front and 25 back on my main while the slaves run 20 max and 12 back. Its not like that will be the definite settings though.
Il try what u said and try on max, 60/60 and lower it on all slaves to see where it will work the best.

I think the downside of trying different settings like this is that its hard to figure out the correct settings. While i may find out great settings based on riding thru a city with loads of players in it, the performance will be different while in a 25man speedrun thru an instance. In any case il be mostly doing 5mans and 10mans on my own. Fps inside those are more than enough for me to play, its the larger raids i join every now and then im slightly more worried about.
I also followed your advise from another post, that i should enable "force window maximized mode" under each "click boxes to configure game settings" + i deleted the cache folder in the wow folder.

one last thing:
you know how blizzard implemented ,ingame, that you can decide max and background fps. Do those override pwnboxer (if enabled/boxes are ticked) settings? What do you recommend doing with these ingame settings? Is is better to just disable the "limit this games fps" inside pwnboxer and then fiddle with the ingame settings instead?

Ty again.

Love your vids btw The commentaries on the pvp vids always make me /chuckle

Edit: im also going to try and point the camera on all slaves downwards, and hope i can make them look down all the time (saving a custom view for all then bind that to a button). That could make the fps better overall (i hope).

Was this with the "stick this window in foreground" enabled on all your toons?

That being enabled isn't really going to change anything that would cause any FPS difference.

Also try not to go as low as 12 for background. Depending on your specs, you might want to not dip below 20 either.

And thanks

Il give the 20 fps a go (though they dont break follow at 12 mostly, if they do its when i speed thru a busy city while on mounts).

I notice now since cata is around the corner its a "worse" time than ever to try figure out the settings/fps, because there are "more people in stormwind" than usual. I tried standing in the trade distict and fiddle with settings but its hard to get good settings haha. I suspect a bit of laaag at the starting questing zones when cata starts but ohwell, if it gets unbearable il just have to stop and do adjustmens then as needed.

Ive always used the main window with "stick this window into foreground" enabled and "off" on all the slaves, so far.
You got any recommandations on this matter?
