| Hello All. I am the FNG guy to multiboxing and I am currently using pwnboxer to lvl up my 5 man team. I recently went through a big computer upgrade and I am still having some issue with the game freezing up in "Org". I have been reading previous posts about either deleting the Cache or possible reinstalling the game on an PCIe SSD HD drive. I really do like the software and I am amazed how simple it makes multiboxing. I addressed my only 2 issues I am having with the software below. Any input will be greatly appreciated. 1. The game crashes in Org while running my guys around. If I uninstall from my HD and install the game on my SSD, will this help things or is it a waste of time. Also I heard of people installing two versions of WoW on their computer? I wanted to install a version on my PCIe SSD HD but I am finding out that this is not easy to do? 2. I figured someone might be able to answer why the setting are not saving? I have to turn off my music ever time I load and now my vid setting change from low to ultra. Minor issue but if there is an easy fix that the FNG guy is missing, please let me know. | First question, what does FNG stand for, second, well I don't have a second. I have heard that SSD with your OS and WOW installed on it will make things load faster as SSD is super fast as there are no disks spinning thus it will make things load faster, and respond quicker. Having a quad core or higher processor will also smoothe things up when entering high populated areas like ORG or similar places. Having also 6gb of ram or more will also allow running 5 wows on one computer run smoother too as there is ample room for the programs to run with. Your settings are commonly set when you open your wow client alone without pwnboxer and set them within the login screen. Once you close it the settings will save to your computer and the next time you load it with pwnboxer, you will find the settings previously saved will hold on each of your client windows. I recommend having your settings defaulted to low, then within pwnboxer you can configure it to have your game1 have higher graphics cause you need to have high enough visibility to see where you are going within the game. If you prefer to have the settings high on your slave windows thats fine too, however having the stated specs I mentioned will help run with those settings higher than not, as again, in high populated zones like major cities, raids, or city raids will cause you to chop out even with a moderately powerful system. |

| Member | I'm also an FNG, so I should probably keep my trap shut, but what the hey...lol. I'm with Drark...I avoided some headaches by first launching each client by itself, adjusting graphics, sound settings, and most importantly (to my system)...limiting the framerates on the secondary toons to something like 30 for when it was the focus window and 12 when it wasn't...reserving the highest settings for my main toon (per usual, as I am but one human with one set of eyes and ears to enjoy the display). Are you just talking about internal Blizzard settings changing after a crash, defaulting back to a previous configuration...or your Pwnboxer configuration settings changing or defaulting back to a previous setting? I believe I noticed that any changes I made, regardless of whether I saved the config file and then immediately start the clients and then experienced a crash...were not "keeping." Right now, following Blizz's 4.1 patch, my system lets me "keep" settings under two conditions: if I make changes, save the config file and then exit Pwnboxer...restart and go...or, if I make changes, save the config file, run the client, and then have no crash... Otherwise, when I go to open PB up again, even though I had "saved" to a new config file, I find all the previous settings what they were before... Lastly, and this is PURE speculation on my part...and probably has nothing to do with anything...but...I noticed you said you're running Direct X 10. I've been told that WoW runs better under DX9. Also, on my PC...I only have an option to switch WoW between DX 9 and DX 11. I don't know if this means that I have only DX9 and DX11 on my system someplace and if I had DX10 I would have three options to choose from...or whether Blizz is saying 'use DX9 or DX11 and not DX10 because of issues we can't/won't resolve.' I hope, either on purpose or by accident, I'm helping... O.o FNG= *effing* New Guy |

| Guys thanks for the quick responses. Drarkan I read a lot of your post on here and they have been very helpful. It is nice to get a vet perspective on these things. Also I should have spelled out the FNG... I think I am going to do the uninstall and put it on my SSD card. Like you both said it should help with speed and pulling all that data. Have either of you tried installing two WoWs on your system. Initially I wanted to install a version on my SSD and run my Master and 1-2 slave from that directory. However as I am finding out that this is not easy? If you have any input on this I would greatly appreciate it. Again thanks for the help. Cotton... <<< F#$%ing New Guy |

| If you ever want to move your warcraft to a new location or a different drive, rather than reinstall it (reinstall if your copy is borked..), you can just move the entire directory to the new location and then run the Repair tool in the new location. That will update the system registry, so it knows where Warcraft is supposed to be. Quite a bit faster than patching the game eighty-six times. |

...anyhow, if I had to do it again...and if I didn't have an install (as Ualaa said) that was "borked" I would try the copy and repair method. As for how it plays, two copies allow me to, as Tim notes, run addons I like on my master (driver) toon...in his case it was Recount...and have a high quality graphic setting for pretty-ness on that toon. Everything runs just as smooth as you please and there doesn't seem to be any difference in response times, or anything like that...I mean, sometimes one of my toons will get bumped from the server...but that's on Blizz or my ISP... ...setup is as easy as just pointing Pwnboxer to the right directory you want to run whichever client from... | |
