Default New TOs rules this August

Tim, I was wondering if you have read the new tos that comes into effect this August? Especially 2A? I would like to read or hear your thoughts about 2A and any other changes or new additions that will occur in August.

What Broomba is talking about

Additional License Limitations.
The license granted to you in Section 1 is subject to the limitations set forth in Sections 1 and 2 (collectively, the "License Limitations"). Any use of the Service or any Game in violation of the License Limitations will be regarded as an infringement of Blizzard's copyrights in and to the Service and/or Game. You agree that you will not, under any circumstances:

A. use cheats, automation software (bots), hacks, mods or any other unauthorized third-party software designed to modify the Service, any Game or any Game experience;

So Tim's multiboxing software will not or does not violate 2A Lindline? I was just curious because Tim kept emphasizing that this doesnt violate the bots, cheats, etc and I believe him, I was wondering if Blizzard is going to change that policy.

Not that I'm aware of. The part that concerns me is part 2C that might potentially impact the Starcrafting site.

Multiboxing software doesn't modify/alter the game in any way, it only sends keystrokes to each game.

I think the bold part there is the only thing to worry over. It is way, way, way too vague. Change the AA setting in your video drivers? It looks prettier, that's a mod to the game "experience". Stereoscopic 3D turned on? You're banned. Running a program that automatically shrinks your game windows, stacks them neatly, and passes key commands to all of them?

Ventrilo, loading wowhead in a browser, adjusting the reverb in your sound control panel, all of this is 3rd party software and I don't know of any 3rd party software blizzard actually authorizes besides whatever came with that "official" wow mouse.

The problem isn't with pwnboxer (Edit: or any other multiboxing software) here, it's with blizzard's lawyers. I mean they have a clause that says "we can drop you for any reason or no reason" so I don't know why they even bother writing the rest of the terms, that pretty much covers it. The only reason to write anything else is to try and describe what sort of behaviors are more likely to get you banned. Unfortunately "modified game experience" is a pretty worthless concept in the context they use it.

Edit: Whoops, realized I wasn't being quite as software neutral as everyone else in the thread
Edit2: http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company...ofuse-new.html for anyone who was having as much trouble finding it as I was.

its better then LOTRO There tos is like u can get banned for useing any software if u tell a gamemaster your useing it then banned it says somethink like NO 3rd party FullSTOP...

end off the day its your choice if to run it if you get banned then all them hours down the s**ter

2nd think is it does not mod the game to change the window side all it is putting wow into Window mode and putting it at a size. if there was notway to put it in window mode then it could be a prob pwnboxer or other software i know does not change files to the game or inports anythink into the memey the game is running

The LotRO TOS is utter garbage.

They're the first party, and you're the second party.
Therefore, if you run the game on Mac OS or Windows, you can be banned -- as that is a third party program.

While boxers are a very small percentage of the total accounts... there are sixty thousand registered users on the other boxing site. Not sure on this one, but there will be a few too. Most seem to be 5-boxers, but even if a large amount were 2-boxers, that's over a hundred thousand accounts easily. Which adds up to more then a million bucks a month.

If we're not cheating/botting etc, they're a for profit business... so they'll happily take our money and let us play. That's been Blizzard policy for the entire life of the game, and won't likely change.
