Default Mac: how to setup mouse broadcast with spaces?

Dear all,

My first post here. pretty new to Multiboxing but able to find A LOT of information on this great forum, even for Mac

However, I've been doing some research as i've got some issues with keybinds/heals with my chars.

I have setup 3 elemental shamans on my 17" macbook pro running at 45 FPS (set FPS max.)

I have 3 copies of WoW on my hardrive as it's not possible to launch multiple versions with one client. So 3 WoW clients running at once from left to right on 3 desktops via the 'Spaces' feature (works great!)

Now i'm finding it hard to macro/keybind my heals to my keyboard as i have to much buttons to keep an eye on and also i can not focus 1 char to heal 2 or the other way round, or all 3 heal at the same time etc etc.

I read some topics on installing either the Healbot or Grid addon but I can only find info on this with Windows users. As they have special windows multiboxing software to broadcast mouse activity.

Looking further i found a post that 'Synergy' does key broadcasting as well as mouse broadcasting and that it also runs on Mac.

Now i already have Plextor running for the keybinds (started with CloneKey but didn't always broadcast the keys pressed) but I would really like to know how i can broadcast my mouse input over to the other two clients/spaces (either with synergy) so i can use Grid/Healbot for the healing.

Does anybody have an idea on how to set this up or does anyone have experience with setting this up?

I must honestly admit that i don't have a clue about mac software, so i'll not be answering your actual question

What i however can answer, is a way around this.

What you can do, is take your heals, and make them macros like this (for the example i'll be asuming you play priests, ofcourse it doesnt matter what class you play)

Code:
#showtooltip
/cast [@party2,mod:ctrl] Heal; [@party3,mod:shift] Heal; [@player;mod:alt] Heal; [@party1,nomod] Heal
This macro when pressed will heal the same character on each account, by presisng no modifier, it'll be the party leader, for shift it will heal 3rd member, control 2nd, if alt(option key in mac) it will heal 'yourself' on all 3.

This will require some getitng used to, like all keybindings, but im currently playing my resto druid main with these kind of macros, (i use mouseover macros with the default raid UI for raiding) and it works great.

Cool great macro, that sure is gonna be a great help till i find out a way to use Grid or Healbot. Will also set this one up for my decurse spells and other heals, just 3 keys with modifiers.

Do the mouse over macro's also let your slaves target what you have highlighted with your mouse? If so, mind sharing those macro's? Or explaining how you set that up?

Nope, That part was a little out of context
For my main, solo character, i use this kinda macro to bind multiple spells to single buttons.

I can show you mousover macros, but its probably not going to be working as good as youd want.

Basicly how i imagine using mouseover macros on multiboxing would work is the following, although i cant promise itll work properly, because it would require the actual key sending to target on the first window BEFORE it targets on the 2nd and 3rd window.

main
Code:
#showtooltip
/target [@mouseover,help]
/cast Heal
rest (which has main as their focus)
Code:
#showtooltip
/target focustarget
/cast Heal
But as i said, this will only work if the main account gets the keypress slightly before your other accounts do, else itll require more then 1 click

Once you actually get some software that properly broadcasts mouse movement/placement for mac, this works wonders:

Code:
#showtooltip
/cast [modifier:alt, target=player] [target=mouseover,exists,help][help][target=player] Heal
It will take, in order: self(if alt is pressed), Mouseover (if it exists and is friendly), current target (if its friendly) or self

(note that that last macro is a copy paste from my priest, and is old, still uses target= instead of @, but its the same thing really)

For Mac, your options are CloneKeys the boxing software.

Or to run a windows emulator, or dual-boot with windows, and then use the boxing software of your choice.
Quite a few go a variation of this route, as PC boxing software is far superior to that offered for the Mac.

I actually think running windows might actually work. I'm just guessing, but I can multiboxing in windows with VMWare using the VMPlayer 3d graphic option. So if it works like that (Vmware on windows) then I would guess Vmware on Mac would work as well.

VMPlayer is free by VMWare, but you still need a Windows license. So if you can get that, you'd be solid!

@Chamassa: Thank you so very much for sharing your knowledge. I applied your healing macro from your first reply. For some reason it didn't work correctly with the '@party/player' in it, but i simply entered my character names and that solved that. Great macro!

Copied your other macro's from your 2nd post into a text file to save for when I finally do get the mouse broadcasting figured out. Thank you so much for helping out!

@Ualaa: I'm afraid there are more options to key broadcasting then just CloneKeys (which is pretty unstable). Hence the reason I use Plexer.
I'm also aware of the fact that Win OS platforms have more advanced/better multiboxing apps, but i'd rather not run bootcamp for windows as the reason why I bought a Mac was to get rid of Microsoft in the first place. And I've been able to find apps for Mac that do everything I did on my old Windows system, so not missing anything there.

However thanks for the feedback. It has been stated Windows does run better on a Mac though ;-)

@Tim: Thnx for the VMPlayer info. There is a VMPlayer for Mac but last I heard it's not been updated anymore. Basically cause you can just run bootcamp to install a normal version of Windows on a Mac system.
------------------------------------------------------
However, back to topic I have no issues what so ever with multiboxing on the Mac, the Plexer software does it's job perfectly together with the Jamba addon and 'Interact with target' bound to a key (which I recently discovered) questing has become a breeze.

It's only the healing part that can be a pain. And i read that Synergy can do mouse broadcasting (so you can setup Grid/ Healbot etc.) I would only like to know if someone knows how this can be done, if anyone has experience with this?

I'm planning on making a big 'ol guide especially for Mac users who want to multibox as I've spent a lot of hours searching the net via multiple sites to gather the information I have now. Only need to figure out mouse broadcasting now...
