Default FPS Issue

Can Pwnboxer still control Framerate in WoW if it is not running? Is there something it changes? I ask because my game isnt running faster than 20 FPS (what I have it set to when PwnBoxer is running) and I am running a single instance of it.

Just curious - Thanks!

It seem that it is. I don't have pwnboxer set to throttle background fps anymore because I sometimes will run just one, and it doesn't matter too much anyway since my video card can handle the two I'm running.

when you log in, its set to what ever you logged out at last. so if you logged out with Pwnboxer set to 20 fps, you'll log in with 20 fps if you log in without Pwnboxer. I found that out myself, but Im not sure what to do about it.

Log in using pwnboxer and turn it off. There's probably some console command or something that will do it, but I'm not clever like that.

I use an addon called dynamicperformance, from wowinterface. You set it with a minimum fps and it automatically adjusts your graphics settings to maintain at least that fps.

I originally got it to make going into crowded areas easier, no dropping to 10fps anymore, but found it works pretty good with multiboxing too.

Having the issue with low fps on Windows 7 that some others are having. My system never fell below 50fps before the upgrade.

WoW Folder >> WTF Folder >> Config File.

Two commands are here for FPS.
SET maxFPS "60"
SET maxFPSBk "30"

I'm 99% sure that PwnBoxer just rewrites specific values in the WTF config file before it calls for a launch of the program.

Correct. What happens is Pwnboxer examines your Config.WTF file right before starting WoW, then it applies the right setting to it.

This doesn't apply to all things (eg, the cpu affinity) but it does for a lot of things.

i have 4x500gig disks (overkill but i got a real bargain and was meant to raid them..)
So for me when raid onboard the motherboard failed then it became natural for me to "soft" raid the games i was going to multibox with.
So i made 5x wow folders and put 1 wow folder on each harddrive and thus creating a spread load solution.

This came with 2 good things.
1. the load spread meant wow wasnt making 1 harddrive work hard.. it was making 4 work a little.

BUT the second thing is for you!
i had 1 install that naturally had maxfps and such since i played on it with the "controller" character (im not using leaderless setup...).

so what you can do is make copys of your wow folder and then have the "slaves" run from these copied folders and thus having seperate configs and never having the problem like this.

This does take a bit more disk space but with new harddrives out i think we can all sacrifice a few more gigs for wow .

Best is to get more drives though to spread the load
