From what I can see, virtualizing things really doesn't offer any advantage at all other than saving some disk space, which these days doesn't matter anyway as disks are so large.

I think it makes more sense to avoid any complication and simply use 1 directory for WoW, or multiple ones. Other than intelligently editing the initial config.wtf so you can log into WoW more effectively, having these copies of pitbull files, etc., it just seems far too worrysome to be useful.

My interest in seperating my main & multiboxing wow installs is mostly to ensure I don't end up with a fubar'd config.wtf because I forgot to shut down pwnboxer cleanly - fubar'd for my main account, not fubar'd for future pwnboxer use.

As I'm running my MB machine on a single 64Gb SSD (win7 included ) I don't quite have the spare space for a full second copy of wow so splitting off the WTF directories (or more accurately symlinking everything else) would be perfect for me IF you can actually do it under NTFS.

Yes, I could always by a second SSD, but I'm being cheap/lazy.

I'm so glad I found this thread this morning I was going crazy! I had this problem and one other which I'll get into in a minute. I do have a graphics question first though. I recently upgraded my video - essentially doubled it, but haven't really experienced any in-game gains from it (WoW). I was averaging 40-45 fps before, and with all settings the same, that is what I'm averaging now. Is there a maximum setting for fps? I thought I remembered something in the last patch about a cap for max fps being removed. My question I guess is this: If I set maxfps at something higher than 60, will I see possible higher fps at the same settings I had before? All settings were custom towards the high end, but slightly below ultra.

Problem #2. Since I started using pwnboxer, I have been experiencing a drastic keypress lag in vent. At normal (for my system) ping numbers, I hit the press to talk key "`", and have a 5-10 second lag before I can talk. Any thoughts on this?

Most monitors are 60, and anything set higher to that doesn't do anything since it won't go above your monitors refresh rate. I just checked and it looks like I set 60 as the max in Pwnboxer, I think I'm going to change that and make it 999 for freaks who like big FPS numbers. Good comment!!!!

As far as the keypress lag in vent and Pwnboxer, very interesting, I never thought about that much. However, I don't think it should make a difference. I am going to be multiboxing tomorrow or the next day and I'll give it a test and see if I notice it. It is going to depend on how Vent is set up really. If Vent is a "normal" program, it should work fine. However, if vent tries to hook the keyboard functions of WoW (which is what Pwnboxer, keyclone, etc does), then that may potentially cause some conflicts. I'll check though!

Thanks for the quick reply. it was driving me crazy. I know the realistically, we can't see anything over 60, but the theory is if we can set the max higher, and our hardware supports it, we can sit at 60 all the time. It's a good theory anywhays.

In reality, hardware RARELY every hits any kind of stated "MAX". Usually those "max" values are obtained in-house where ever the hardware was made and extremely specialized and specific circumstances, just so they can put it on a product as eye candy.
