| I recently came upon a problem where my main window sometimes drops to unplayable 10-15 fps. What I'm doing is as follows: I play with five toons, one large window and four smaller ones to the side, all on a single monitor. I have two screen setups where I sometimes set the larger window so that I can see the other four (much like the default, first setup in pb). The alternative setup - "Mode 2" - is a fullscreen of the larger window, where I don't see the other four at all. This is usually fine at first, where my large window at "Mode 2" shows my main with ultra graphics setting and steady at 60 fps. What happens is, when I fast switch to show one of the slaves in the larger window, or if I choose Mode 1 to show all the toons at once, and then switch back to my main in the larger window, I end up with only 10-15 fps; although I just had maximum fps with the same setup as before. Any ideas?

| After some more testing I can conclude that it only happens when I switch from "Mode 1", which is a screen setup where all the characters windows are visible, to "Mode 2" where only my main window is visible. I go from 60 fps to 10-15 in one mode change.

| The method 2 does some really funky DirectX layer calculations to enable the floating mouse cursor which, if your gpu isn't up to the task, can cause some FPS to decrease. TBH you would probably want to use Method 1, I use that hardcore for everything I do such as Death n Decays, works like a champ. |

i've played for 4 years at sub-20 fps, even raided ZG and AQ back then. on a side note, i believe most cartoons on TV are on a 12 fps base (but could be wrong) | |

| Do you mean that when you have a window layout set is Mode1 and when you have another window layout preset Mode2 and when you swap between them it causes lag? |

| I have two window layouts, one where the main window is smaller and one where it is larger. When I switch between layout #1 (one medium window and four smaller windows) and layout #2 (one large window and four not visible windows), the large window in #2 sometimes drops to 15 fps. Not always, but sometimes. Sometimes it is steady at 60 fps.

| One thing to check is the windows foreground and background settings. When you swap between your set displays like that it might for a short time drop to the background FPS. To change that you can dissable it or set your game 1 to have a higher background FPS, which might solve your issue. |

| The background fps for the main window is set to 30.

| I tested this, and swapping layout modes does cause a drop in fps for a few mins while you're logged in the game. I haven't checked if it laggs out while just resizing though, I suspect not. |
