Default Bug in Key Remapping ?

First of all, thanks Tim for this great piece of software.

Following my reply here: Team Malaias - FTL Setup i discovered a strange things happens.

I did some tests and I concluded that if:
- Delete the default config file "PwnBoxer.pbcfg."
- Open PwnBoxer.exe and load my configuration file called for example "5_Shaman.pbcfg."

Then i close PwnBoxer and at closure my same configuration file is resaved (silently) as "PwnBoxer.pbcfg".

Everything's fine except that this is causing problem on the function of "Key Remapping".

Make this test to reproduce the effect:

1) Delete the default file "PwnBoxer.pbcfg."

2) Open the program and load any configuration file for example "5_Shaman.pbcfg" where there is still no defined key remapping.

3) Add any key remapping, for example:

4) File->Save configuration: 5_Shaman.pbfcg

5) Close PwnBoxer
- note: at this point in the program folder the program created a file PwnBoxer.pbcfg that is an exact replica of our 5_Shaman.pbcfg

[EDIT: correction to the original post]
6) Reopen PwnBoxer and reload your configuration file (5_Shaman.pbcfg)

7) Now if you go to see the Key Remapping area you will find this:

(The Key Remapping have been duplicated!)

I think to understand, correct me if I'm wrong, that the program loads at startup the default configuration from file PwnBoxer.pbcfg.
Then after I load my personal cfg. file the program "append/merge" the sub-section of key remapping to the already existing keyremapping.

This is not a serious problem, but i just liked to give my little contribution to improving the program.

I thought of this solution / suggestions:
1) Ensure that PwnBoxer loads your last configuration used instead of loading always PwnBoxer.pbcfg.
2) Show in the title bar the name of the configuration loaded.

NB:
For now a workaround that fixes this is:
simply every time before starting the program delete the default file "PwnBoxer.cfg" and then when opening PwnBoxer reload your personal configuration file.

Ciao.

(Sorry for my bad english)

Hello,

Thanks for the extensive report! Yea, I've had people mention this to me and I'm still digging on the details.

There is an easier workaround, just FILE->LOAD your Pwnboxer configuration file that you create from FILE->SAVE. Basically don't use the auto-loaded default file when Pwnboxer starts up.

Cheers
Tim

Note that i have edited the original post with the fundamental correction for the reproduction of the effect. See bolded edit between step 5 and 6.

Hmm, sorry to bother but your workaround don't work, rather just trigger the problem. Try yourself!

Problem developed in another way:

1) No PwnBoxer.bcfg file
2) Open program, create your configuration. File->Save as 5_Shaman.
3) Now my file 5_Shaman.pbcfg contain for example 5 remapped keys.
4) Close PwnBoxer and at this point a new default PwnBoxer.pbcfg will be created in program folder that is an exact replica of your own file.
5) Reopen PwnBoxer: at this point the program have loaded the default PwnBoxer.pbcfg (remember step 4 this is an exact replica of your 5_Shaman file)
6) File->Load your 5_Shaman.pbcfg
7) BAM! You have now 10 remapped keys = your 5 remapped keys duplicated!

Conclusion:
Forgive me if I would tell you that I think the error is simply that the program when i open a config file does not clear the preexisting remapped keys already "in memory".

Ciao.

[EDIT]
I see only now this: Key Remapping Bug [version 02/15].
Same problem, same solution. Cheers

Ahh, I see what you are saying. Loading of the new config for some reason does not remove the old config for the key remapping. Now I get it! Whew!

I have to head out for the morning but will be looking into this more shortly. I'll be releasing a new PB build with a lot of speed enhancements, lets see if I can put this in there.
