Default Xkeys worth it, how does it compare to others?

I noticed in wowwiki mentioning getting Xkeys cause very easy to configure. Is this legal with WoW?

And also is it worth spening $115 for 20 Xkey one, or do cheaper ones do the same thing like this one..
Amazon.com: Genovation Controlpad 683 24keyprog Ps/2 Pthru W95/98/00/nt Li: Electronics

That one is only $70 and does the same thing, accept diffrent company.

Tim, you use one right? How easy it it to setup really.

I haven't used any of these, so cannot speak to their configuration.

As far as "legal" within warcraft... As long as it sticks to one physical press and your toon does one thing, you are ok.

It doesn't matter if your one physical press sends the game two keys (like forward and strafe left) as you are doing a single action (moving) and for only as long as you hold the button down.

If your single press has you move forward for 5 seconds and then strafe left for 5 seconds, that would not be ok, because it is two separate actions. Well, if you had them on two keys that would be different.

You can have castsequence macros on them, or whatever. As long as they do no more then could be accomplished by having them send a keybind to warcraft and a wow macro on the keybind, you are fine.

If the device offers the ability to loop or pause and then do other things (for example the Logitech G11/G15 keyboards), the device itself is probably ok, but using those prohibited features will get you banned eventually.

nerver use macro on any 3rd party software use the in game one You could fight this all day with blizzard but they would win in the law(tos).

Even if it does what you can do with blizzards macro system blizzard can not see the macro that they can olny see in game ones somethink might look the same to you but the 3rd macro system might not be set out blizzard and this is where the probs come in

so if u get reported or wardon picked it and they look though how your playing and they see nogame macros and all they see you casting it could end in a ban i would say away from this if it was me and i know tim would say the say the same, use assign keystroke and blind a ingame macro to a key like alt+f1

players been banned before for makeing a macro with 3rd party software that just did /follow some still do it and are fine but i would stay far away from it

Actually it is ok. Lots of people who post on forums use them. I did some more research

It is just a extension of your keyboard. The macros you assign to it are the same as you can use ingame..which is legal. I went ahead and ordered one.

I plan on using main keyboard for basic commands/main char and that for other items.

That guy who plays 30+ wow accounts uses one on EU servers

Don't bother getting the XKeys.

I own 2 of every model they have. There are so many issues running it, and even once you get it running, its so fragile with changes that you will soon learn to be afraid of changing things.

The moment I got the G11 keyboard, with 18 programmable keys (which can be switched 3 times on the fly per key), I dumped my XKey for good.

All in all I spent about $1400 on xkeys hardware, and for 5% of that, the G11 keyboard is far better.

G11 > Xkeys

I just don't like the placement of the keys is all on the keyboards, i've had the same problem on Gxkeyboards. The macros don't work right most the time. I dumped my G15 for reg keyboard because of it. Anything buy basic function like opening a program it gets wonky in my experience.

I'm going to give it a go, ordered one, let you know how it turns out. If it is a hassle will just ebay it or something.
