I'd consider a better video card, either initially or at some point in the future. It is a fair ways down the chart: Graphics Card Hierarchy Chart : Best Graphics Cards For The Money: May 2011 The rest of the system looks more than fine. You could go with more ram, if you were interested in more than 5-boxing whether that is streaming, making movies, 10-boxing down the road, or lots of tabs open at once; ram is about as cheap now as it ever has been. Another fairly cheap upgrade, now or in the future would be an SSD drive, purely as a gaming folder (go for 60+ GB's, if you do as smaller than that has had issues with patch sizes). You'll box on that fine, with lower graphic settings.

Definitely. However, since the 2500k and 2600k CPUs are generally the same price as the earlier i7 systems, you may want to consider a system with the 2500/2600k. They are 2-3x faster.

one thing the 900 series i7's still have over the sandy bridge is quick path interconnect or QPI. Sandy bridge uses a similar memory access design known as "DMI" with just double the bandwidth to the 800 series i7's that was known for disapointing performance by comparison to the 900's i7 900's still offer far superior memory performance. a hex core 970, 980x or 990x with 6.4GT/s QPI would be tough for the 2600's to match for memory bandwidth. Noted if you want performance on a budget choosing the 2600's is surely a no brainer. Last edited by xartin; 06-06-2011 at 05:57 PM.
