| Senior Member | Heya, The time has come for me to upgrade my gaming system. The parameters are as such: This time around, I want to go back to a desktop. I want the ability to run 5 wows smoothly in Dalaran (at the very least I don't want to be waiting 3 mins to be able to move my characters) I am not one for "building a PC", so I will need the PC to pretty much be ready to use when I get it. however I can put in video cards if I need to, I'd rather not tho. My max spending on this venture is maybe $1200 ($800 is probably more reasonable for me). Also as more of a vanity thing... the abilty to play and broadcast on this pc would be nice as well... but I am willing to let that slide for the ability to play without hardware lag. Please feel free to pop in some links to PCs you think would do the job. Dont get all techno babble because I tend to just black out and wake up in a puddle of my own drool naked... wondering where the last 12hrs went... or maybe that was the time I went to a bar in NY.... i get those confused. Anyways ty in advance for all the help I can get! |

| That budget will DEFINITELY give you a PC to 5box + stream WoW. I'm going to sleep right now but I'll put something together for you in the morning from a place that custom builds PCs for a great price. What ISP connection do you have and what speed? |

| Senior Member | The image in my tag on this page is my own work... those other images are not. I use Cablevision, their standard stuff... they do offer a faster connection for more money, just didnt want to waste the money since I could tell it was my hardware holding me back. |

| hmm I do not know of any "good" prebuilt computers or any prebuilt computer vendors that have great customer service. But I will keep an eye out for you and post here with info but if you want the best of the best I would get a system that has the following: processor: i7 920 memory: 6GB of whatever is in the computer, not sure which vendors use what memory Hard drive: something that is 7,200 RPM, 500GB or more in space, and has a big onboard cache(ex. 32MB onboard cache). try to get a SSD (solid state disk) along with a mechanical drive. The SSD will greatly help with starting the game and loading ingame motherboard: any x58 motherboard will do. I prefer gigabyte and evga motherboards as my preference dvd/cdrw: whatever comes with the computer video card: i think a good, decent balance would be a ati 5850 card. its right up there with the nvidia geforce 285 card, but at half the cost. plus it supports directx 11 for all the newer games that are coming out this year, thats if you play other games. power supply: I can not comment here as I do not know the quality of power supplies in pre-made computers. but you want something that is 650w or 750w of power on the power supply that has all the power connectors for hardware you have in the machine thats pretty much all I can think of, mostly everything i listed here would not be an option in most premade computers. for example you have no choice in what motherboard, hard drive, memory, etc you will get. but you use this list to compare to other computers from the same vendor or other vendors. if possible, try to buy a computer from a site that allows you to customize it to your specs. or if you have a store like microcenter or fry's, they might have a on-site computer building thing if you buy parts at their store. they can help you mix and match computer parts + case and build it while you do something else and come pick it up. you will have to pay them for this service, but at least you are not building it yourself ![]() good luck |

| Senior Member | Yeah... my not wanting to build it myself and the dealings with the techno stuff goes back to destroying my old computer which kicked ass because I didn't put the heatsink on the new CPU correctly and it fried >.> All in all, just trying to find something within my criteria with little to no personal hands on... other than pushing the power button and waiting the 6hrs to install wow and all its patches :P |

| Senior Member | Just copy your current WoW install to your new PC. Should be WAY faster than installing from scratch and patching. There's nothing machine-specific that wouln't allow you to do this and it saves a ton of time. |
