Ok but the purpose of teh cache is to store frequently used routines and such for quick access. So does 12MB make such a huge difference than 6MB to justify a $100? Heck I could take my wife to a nice restaurant and movie for that.

/sarcasm

But you'll get more long term enjoyment out of the extra cache...

/sarcasm off

here is an article and benchmarking with different cache sizes. Does Cache Size Really Boost Performance? : What Is The Impact Of Cache Size? - Review Tom's Hardware

the conclusion, this person said a higher cache size will give a performance increase, but not sure if I say how much of an increase it will give. i did not read the benching he did with the processors, just seen the graphs and to me little was gained. however he stated that although there was little gain in the benchmarking part, the performance increase was moderate enough to buy the higher cache size.

I'll try to find some more recent and conclusive articles for you.

I read the article and it said that real life gaming is faster and equals about 1 clock speed. So bigger is better no matter what we think; I guess us guys little have been fooling ourselves all this time. Im sure there is a curve of diminishing performance gains but going from 6MB to 12MB cache may be a good thing for about a years worth of fun; and all for about a 100 bucks ... what a deal.

Now does anyone have any ideas on how to sell this to my wife?
