if you are not tech savvy, there are online videos that show you how to put together a system, and you can always ask us ![]() the linked computers are ok, but not great. The big problem I see with buying premade computers is the cost, performance, and not really upgradeable in the future. so try and learn how to build a computer, you won't regret it and you might save money in the long run

I used to not like mounting the motherboard and placing the CPU. These are a lot easier now. If you go with a premade system, you'll be paying $200 or so extra for them to put it together. The only reason to go with a premade system, is if they offer a strong warranty and you don't want to have to rely on manufacturer's RMA if something breaks. Even still, a warranty is like insurance; nice to have, but looking at everyone combined more money is paid for the warranty then costs the company offering it.

Newegg is usually fairly competitive as far as prices go. You can try other online stores like TigerDirect. You can also use the online builder for a lot of computer stores. My local store - Memory Express has a builder. Or go to Falcon NW, Dell, Alienware etc. Use the sites as a research tool to see what they put into their systems. That at least gives you an idea how several systems look. You can google a part and +review. You can also google a part and get several online prices.

| The biggest advantage of building versus buying is you dont get a crap load of useless software bogging down your system when you build yourself.

Not sure on your budget, but a very decent system for boxing would be along these lines (would not need this strong exactly, but I'll not recommend less then an i7, for a new system). 64-bit version of Windows 7. i7 920 processor. x58 chipset motherboard 6/9/12gb of ddr3 ram low end SSD purely for games, not your operating system.
