Question Take your Pick

ok so.. Which would you choose and why? they are both virtually the same price, so please avoid using cost in your answer.

Use: I plan on using whichever I end up getting for multiple things: Web Design, Digital Design, Multiboxing, and Movie Editing. On a side note, I would like to be able to stream while Multiboxing as many toons as possble ( most likely 5 toons, but at times i would like to be able to play 10 and still be able to stream without my clients lagging in big fights).

AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition @ 3.2GHz
-MSI NF980-G65

or

Intel Core i7-930 Bloomfield @ 2.8GHz
-ASUS P6X58D

The rest of the system:

- 8GB G.skill ram
- Intel X-25M 80GB SSD for the OS and WoW
- 600GB VelociRaptor
- EVGA GTX 470
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit

- Multiboxing software: PWNBoxer of course!!

any comments are appreciated as i can't make up my mind.

~ Thanks in advance for anyone who even takes the time to read this.

I will have to look for some of the reviews for those processors, but if I recall correctly, the intel i7 930 hands down beats amd for video editing, and multi-tasking applications (as long as they have multi-core support built in the apps).

But even if the apps do not have multicore support, I still would go with intel if I were buying a new processor.

But for multiboxing wow, I do not know which is better amd or intel. I believe amd processors can give great performance at a low price but falls short of intel in some areas. I would just check tomsharware, hardocp, or other review sites that pit a bunch of processors against each other.

looks like you are building a beast of a computer. Have fun and congrats

also wanted to chime in on the G.skill memory you have. I do not know if that will work with a i7 930 processor or motherboard. still using a old Q6600 chip , but from what i read, you will need to use 3 dimms that are ddr3 running at 800-1066 (minimum). if the memory is faster then that, like maybe 1600 speed, the memory controller that is built into the processor will overclock itself to run the speed specified by the memory company.

Intel® Core? i7-930 Processor (8M Cache, 2.80 GHz, 4.80 GT/s Intel® QPI) with SPEC Code(s) SLBKP

is your processor with specs and important stuff you need to know if you want to overclock. Like minimum/maximum voltage, etc.

also the motherboard will work, but is a little pricey for my tastes. I do not follow any asus motherboard, but it just seems you are paying $75 or more just for SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0. I do not even know if there are any hard drives or other devices that use those specs atm (I have not checked tech news in a month or so, I might be wrong)

sorry for the long-winded post, again grats and have fun

The memory, make sure you keep the ram in increments of 3, the mobo is tri-channel.

So go 6 or 12 my suggestion. I have 6 in an i7-920 any its more than i use, but am looking to up workload and up mem at once.

To the above few posts about Ram; its going to be 1600, and yeah, it didn't even cross my mind to do the ram in sets of 3's, I'll be sure to upgrade to 12 rather than 8. and as for the MOBO, I picked the one I did because of it's upgradeable capabilities, down the road I plan on getting a few 6GB/s HDDs as well as putting those 3.0 USb ports to use.. BUT I am not stuck to it the 6GB/s and 3.0 usb ports are just a bonus, there are a few other board I'm looking at, such as the EVGA X58 FTW3 132-GT-E768-KR, EVGA E758-TR, etc, but if you have any Motherboard recomendations, im always open to ideas and suggestions.

Thanks for all those who replied so far, keep the advice coming.
