| I am unsure if having lag in Orgrimmar is a sign that I may have more trouble down the road when trying to multibox so I want to try to fix the problems before more spawn * CAUTION WALL OF TEXT * I am running into troubles running 5 wows in Orgrimmar, and I was wondering if there is something I am setting up wrong.. I am running these programs while playing AIM, EVGA precision, Logitech G11 Keyboard programs (G-Profiler, LCD manager and mouse setpoint), Pwnboxer and the 5 wows.. I get good performance outside Orgrimmar in Durotar, but if I go in Orgrimmar my PC takes a knee and starts lagging with 100% cpu usage. I have my WIN 7 set to basic theme with all visual effects turned off. Not sure what other measures I can take to free up CPU for wow.. so any recommendations will be great =] CPU Specs Intel core 2 dual e8400 3.0ghz OC'd to 3.4ghz (problems OC'd and normal) RAM 8gigs Corsair TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF DDR2 4GB x2 (8gigs total) Win 7 Evaluation Copy Build 7100 Ultimate All WoWs are on lowest Graphic Setting according to Pwnboxer AddOns - Bartender 4 HealBot Jamba PitBull4 Recount Sct-v6 EVGA 260GTX x2 2 Monitors one 24 inch 1900x1200 and other 19inch 1024x1280 HDs Hard Drive ONE 500 GB SATA 7200RPM Partitioned into 200 GB and 276 GB Hard Drive TWO 160 GB SATA 7200RPM More Details from DxDiag at bottom My Pwnboxer Config looks like this Game 1 Main - on CPU 2 "Enable CPU Affinity" : true, "Enable FPS Limit" : true, "Enable Graphics" : true, "FastSwitchKey" : "Shift + F1", "Graphics Level" : 1, "Max Background FPS" : 10, "Max FPS" : 30, "Maximized Mode" : false, Game 2 on CPU 2 "Enable CPU Affinity" : true, "Enable FPS Limit" : true, "Enable Graphics" : true, "FastSwitchKey" : "Shift + F2", "Graphics Level" : 0, "Max Background FPS" : 7, "Max FPS" : 15, "Maximized Mode" : false, Game 3 on CPU 1 "Enable CPU Affinity" : true, "Enable FPS Limit" : true, "Enable Graphics" : true, "FastSwitchKey" : "Shift + F3", "Graphics Level" : 0, "Max Background FPS" : 7, "Max FPS" : 15, "Maximized Mode" : false, Game 4 on CPU 1 "Enable CPU Affinity" : true, "Enable FPS Limit" : true, "Enable Graphics" : true, "FastSwitchKey" : "Shift + F4", "Graphics Level" : 0, "Max Background FPS" : 7, "Max FPS" : 15, "Maximized Mode" : false, Game 5 on CPU 2 "Enable CPU Affinity" : true, "Enable FPS Limit" : true, "Enable Graphics" : true, "FastSwitchKey" : "Shift + F5", "Graphics Level" : 0, "Max Background FPS" : 7, "Max FPS" : 15, "Maximized Mode" : false, *SOME* DxDiag Info ------------------ System Information ------------------ Time of this report: 11/28/2009, 22:39:50 Machine name: SAURN-PC Operating System: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit (6.1, Build 7100) (7100.winmain_win7rc.090421-1700) Language: English (Regional Setting: English) System Manufacturer: NVIDIA System Model: NFORCE 780i SLI BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz (2 CPUs), ~3.4GHz Memory: 8192MB RAM Available OS Memory: 8190MB RAM Page File: 1787MB used, 14591MB available Windows Dir: C:\Windows DirectX Version: DirectX 11 DX Setup Parameters: Not found User DPI Setting: Using System DPI System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent) DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled DxDiag Version: 6.01.7100.0000 64bit Unicode ------------ DxDiag Notes ------------ Display Tab 1: No problems found. | Its natural to have lag in places like Orgrimmar and Dalaran because there is a lot more going on in the cities then elsewhere. Two things I think would help you out the most are: Setting up a RAID array. Upgrading to Quad Core. For 5 boxing on 1 pc, I recommend quad core =) Its possible on dual cores, but I prefer the extra power. |

| Two more things to help you out. a) have the slaves look at the ground. b) consider a low end (generation 1) SSD, purely for the gaming folder. 30gb is plenty, you just need read speed; don't put your operating system on a low end SSD. |

| Its very possible on a dual-core. The Lingling (hes so dreamy) only does it on a two-some processor(cause hes a romantic). I would suggest clearing WoWs cache.

| Thanks for all the advice.. I figured it was normal to lag in major cities.. but it seems to make pwnboxer lock up and the key broadcasting stop working.. I will lose follow and my characters won't listen to my main guys commands, and I wil have to pick each wow screen and manually have them follow by hotkey.. I am looking into a i7 but I don't know I just built my current comp a year ago.. upgrading already might not be probable but maybe =D Since I posted this I tried to re-size my main wow window.. I made it 1600x900 instead of 1900by 900 and surprisingly that has made a big difference. |

| Super Moderator | The problem with buying an i7 is motherboard compatibility I believe. As far as I know, the motherboard has to support an i7 chip. Might want to double check your mobo can handle an i7 before you go out and buy one. If I'm wrong about this, feel free to step in and correct me

| i7s were put on their own chipset. Its unlikely youll find a compatible mobo that isnt LGA 775 (or was it 1334).

| Actually i'm surprised no one brought on the key issue..2 video cards he has. Did you try running the slaves on one and main on other? or otherway around to see if it clears up? Does it change when you move taskbar to one or the other monitor? Did you remember not to click limit fps? You won't need to with 2 video cards. Are you running BOTH monitors at native res? Very important, you will get worse fps if not native. I noticed the DXdiag shows..Native Mode: 1280 x 1024(p) (60.020Hz)..could it be you have 19inch monitor set as main on accident? I run a single 260 and don't get ANY lag in city on main, the slaves do, but just for FPS set to 30. I run 2x24inch at 1920x1200 5 characters 1 on main 4 on 2nd monitor. | If you have insufficient ram, that's the biggest upgrade as far as wow goes. After ram, the processor is usually the bottleneck of a system. Hard disk access is almost as big an upgrade on most systems as the CPU, a low end SSD for the wow folder is usually a huge upgrade too. WoW is not very graphically challenging, so generally the video card upgrade doesn't improve your game play nearly as much as it will in a more graphic intensive game. I'm not saying graphics cannot be the bottleneck, but a much older graphic card can handle everything wow throws at it. It helps to disable vertical sync, disable shadows, disable weather, and to reduce view distance on the slaves. You'll want at least 50% spell effects on the main, so you'll notice all the puddles/acid/slime/ice to move the team out of. WoW does not support SLI or Crossfire; quite often wow runs slightly worse with multiple cards (this includes X2 cards like a GTX 295 or a Radeon 4870 X2) then with just the better of the two (or the x1 card like the GTX 285 or the Radeon 4870). To my knowledge, IS Boxer is the only program which can force warcraft to use one card or the other, but if you go this route your FPS are horrible when you PiP swap. Pretty much every other boxing option, will have 90% of the warcraft load on the first card. In task manager, run the Performance Monitor, and then play warcraft. Play for 20-30 mins, doing what you normally do. Then log off and check where your own system bottlenecks are. This will tell you what you need to upgrade the most. |
