| The following link contains information about optimizing WoW with respect to graphics cards, system performance, etc. Very nicely written. World Of Warcraft: Cataclysm--Tom's Performance Guide : Welcome To The World...Of Warcraft: Cataclysm One of the main points of that article is this: You can't enable DX11 through a graphical option. Rather, you'll need to add '-d3d11' to your World of Warcraft shortcut. Or, open your config.wtf file (located in ...\World of Warcraft\WTF\) and add the line SET gxApi "d3d11". What sort of gains can you expect to see? Much to our surprise, they're significant. This means that if you have a DirectX11 video card, you may want to add '-d3d11' to your WoW shortcut to see if you get much better performance. Last edited by Prepared; 11-16-2011 at 02:19 PM. |

| Adding the '-d3d11' to your WoW shortcut used to be required for DX11 but since cata launched or shortly after blizzard added an option to the advanced gfx options to set the DirectX api I noticed one day that my custom Config.wtf with SET gxApi "d3d11" refused to work properly which lead me to discover that blizzard had added an official option for DX11 n the ui options. Either way using DX11 does offer a significant performance increase for world of warcraft. |
