| Senior Member | ya mine does this this just leave it it do 2 to 3 times off booting up then shuting down it **** me up the frist time it did it to me but in the end it boots my bro had the same prob cus he put the 2nd ram chip in bay 2 before bay 1 yes even no power it knows :O mine olny does it if i trun off the pc at the wall when i boot it up it go though booting up and shut downing down OverClockers told me its to do the with the OverClock its somethink to do with the CPU Doing its tests it does in when the computers new to or trun off moved for a long time not really sure i just let it go though whatever it likes. like i said my bro fixed on his I7 by putting the ram in bay1 friest then adding the 2nd one ever it goes on your bord and his does not do it anymore i tryed that but it still does it :S on my dualcore

| my guess would be wrong memory timings in the bios or bad memory. when booting the pc, push "del" (or whatever key to get into the bios) to get into the bios find memory timings and set the following: CAS- 8 tRCD- 8 tRP- 8 tRAS- 24 then go down to the voltage part of the bios and set the memory voltage to: memory voltage - 1.65V save to bios(or CMOS) then reboot. here are the specs for your memory Patriot Memory - Products the timings are different from what is on the overclockers site fyi. if that does not work, then put in 1 stick and test each stick for errors using memtest+ 4.00 get that here Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool |

| also make sure your motherboard has the right bios for your processor, you should be running bios v10 or later. to see what version you are running, when you get the MSI logo when you boot up, push "tab" and at the top you will see the bios version. DO NOT FLASH BIOS UNLESS YOU HAVE TO it is somewhat risky and might brick your motherboard if done incorrectly, with a wrong bios upgrade, or the power shuts off when it is flashing. just letting you know what can occur if something were to go wrong if you have bios lower then v10, you may need to flash the BIOS to a later version. here is your board MSI Global ? Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more how to find what bios version you are running MSI Global ? Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more and how to flash a bios MSI Global ? Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more |

| Senior Member | thanks allot, will try these when i get home in the morning Well Providing it doesnt turn off on me in the process of trying each option much appreciated just another thought, it wouldnt be because the PSU is underpowered would it? what wattage do you recommend? although it can take upto like 40 seconds before it shuts down Last edited by Paul1337noob; 02-20-2010 at 08:10 PM. |

| Senior Member | One other thing that will cause a shut off like that would be overheating, since you got it working, that is clearly not it. I have seen it where people fail to install the cpu heatsink, put on thermal compound, or the heatsink is not on properly and it will do that same thing. Just a little note, not saying this was the issue or that you failed to do any of the above.
