Default New PC Budget build...

CPU 7750 AMD Athlon X2, 2.7 GHz True Dual-Core Design, Clock Multiplier Control 3.0 MB Total L2+L3 Cache

MotherBoard ASRock A780GXH/128M

Memory 4 gigs G.Skill DDR2- 1066 PC2- 8500

Video Card EVGA GeForce 9800 GTX

Case Cool Master CM Storm

Power Supply Some cheap 500w from frys

EDIT: Just added Vista Home Prem to the list... I am going to use my old HD and dvd burner... what else am I missing here... I feel like I am missing something

I want to be able to 4 and or 5 box depending on if my wife is playing. I still need to purchase a Hard Drive and an operating system. I think I am also going to get another set of Ram.

I also was wondering why Tim installs a fresh copy of wow for all his clients. It seems that patch day would be hell.

Thanks for the info.

So why would you install the different copies on one PC?

100% Truth there. I have it set up that way originally because I used to run WoWs on separate HDs, but then I realized that isn't needed, instead, perfectly unfragged drives are more important, but I just copied the folders over.

Patching takes longer, but I guess I'm just lazy to switch it to 1 acct.

Please allow me to test my understanding... So it is not needed is what you are saying? And if you had to start over you would just run one?

If I had to start over, I would do this:

Create 2 single partitions in windows just for gaming, 30GB in size each, in addition to normal OS partitions.

I would call Partition #1 (WoW Main) and Partition #2 (WoW Defrag).

#1 would have 1 copy of WoW only.

#2 would be empty

Every 2 weeks I would copy #1 over to #2, then format #1, then copy #2 back to #1.

This ensures absolute perfect no fragmentation of drive data.

Overall with my experience multiboxing in WoW since the very start of this game, disk fragementation is what really kills your FPS and slows down your game. What I've mentioned will completely solve that.

That is exactly the kind of advise I need. Perfect explanation and it makes sense. Thank you for the explanation. All to often people jumble word and confuse things as they explain.

Thank you sir!

What else am I missing here guys? I am not a PC tech guy really... just enough to be really dangerous...

If I go in and move all my main files on my old HD to another partition before I plug it in to the new board will that data be safe if I have to format the main C:?

If I were you and had the money Id get a small 30gig SSD for the wow install, they are currently around $100 dollars. And if you are not gonna get this stuff very soon I would wait for Windows 7 as its heaps faster than Windows Vista.
