| Hey all, I've found out the reason why my 30" monitor sucks at 1920x1080 (as in, the colors are all faded and whited out, black looks white/black for example) is because my monitor is 1920x1200 native, not 1920x1080 native. So basically I need to get a big azz 1920x1080 native monitor which I'll be using for broadcasting. Any ideas peeps? What if I got one of those 40" TVs that also do 1920x1080. Is the quality of those 1920x1080 going to be the same as the quality of a normal 1920x1080? |

| TVs typically have a higher contrast ratio. So, you should get a better picture from a TV than a monitor. You should also keep an eye on the response rate. Monitors are typically <5 ms. While I can't say for sure, it might be possible that TVs might be a little lax in that department.

| Most 30" and up have a native resolution of 2560x1600, which is a ratio of 16:10. 1920x1080 is a ratio of 16:9. So unless you can find a monitor that has the correct ratio you'll run in to the same problems with your new monitor. There are two possible native resolutions you want: 2560x1440(16:9) 1920x1080(16:9) 27" monitors are good for 1920x1080 but if you start going higher you'll just ruin the quality for yourself. It won't look as crisp as if you were to get a smaller monitor. If you pack more pixels in to a bigger area, pixel will have to be bigger, but you can always fix that by having the monitor farther away from you. Might as well get a projector while you're at it. Though those things only last 3000 hours per bulb and a bulb is $150 a pop. Special occasions I reckon. | was looking at that asus monitor and I must say the reviews for it are decent. I have a hanns-g 28" monitor and I hear it has a life-span of 1 year before failure according to reviews on a few sites and newegg reviews. So I am in the market for a new monitor and might go for the asus one or the LG one at 27" on newegg |
