| according to this article, there was a video leaked about the sandy-bridge cpu. During that video it was stated that only a 2%-3% overclock would be possible due to how intel designed the new chips. So basically you cannot overclock the new chips because "all the system buses are tied together into one internal system clock generator issuing the basic 100MHz base clock", according to the article. But never fret, Intel will most likely release their new K-series cpu's with unlocked multipliers that uses the sandy-bridge technology. But of course, if you want to get one of these cpus, you may be paying an "arm and a leg" just to have the performance the way you want it ![]() Hopefully the good motherboard companies will find a way to bypass this limitation and allow users to oc those new cpus ![]() here is the article Intel plans to deliberately limit Sandy Bridge overclocking | bit-tech.net what are your thoughts? going to wait and see what AMD brings out?, or will you just wait for the unlocked multiplier cpu from intel? |

| Locked CPUs are bad IMO. I think that AMD really needs to step their game up, their 6 core CPU is horrible in comparision to the 4 core i7 series. I remember back in the day when AMD used to be slightly better than Intel. However, if not for competition, we'd be sitting on P4's still I bet. |
