Does anyone here game on one of these? Below are the stats - Components • Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit • Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-840QM Quad Core processor (1.86GHz, 8MB L3 Cache) with Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz • 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 5850 GDDR5 Graphics [HDMI] • 8GB DDR3 System Memory (2 Dimm) • 640GB 7200RPM Hard Drive with HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection Besides the upgrade to a SSD later on, how do you guys think this stacks up? Do you think a person could run 5 Clients on this with the Main being on some what good graphics? I was thinking about poss getting two of them, since this laptop has teh abilty to do eyefinity across 3 monitors. so i was thinking get 2 and have my main across 3 monitors and then the 2nd laptop off to the side with 4+ slaves on it. I know alot of you are of the mind set that i shold just build a tower, and i understand that, but i tend to travel and i want the portablity of a laptop. But mainly i was looking at my PC which was pretty dam good 1 1/2 years ago and it needs to be bascially completely replaced. So i was thinking, if i am going to have to replace my entire computer every 1-2 years and that is the life span of a laptop then why not just go with a laptop? I doubt i would be able to 10 box with those 2 laptops but i think i can get a 5 boxing team going no worries. So what do you guys think? I just want to explore all the options available so i can spend my money wisely here in about a month.

Havent seen anything along those lines sadly. The only reason i have been looking into this model is bc i love the Eyefinity aspect of gaming, And to have a laptop that can do that is blowing my mind. Been reading up on Laptop Threads here and i think i might be able to 5 box off just one, it really depends on how nice the main account will look with the 4 salves in the back gnd. The only thing is i am not sure how that would work with the main at full screen and the slaves not showing, not sure if i left the laptop open if i would have a fourth screen. That might be asking to much lol. In the end i am most likely just going to build a tower, was just wondering if anyone Multiboxed or hell 10 boxed with a laptop or pair of laptops.

Not sure how an i7-840QM compares to an i7-920/930. The graphics and ram won't bottleneck you, on medium settings. Adding the SSD will definitely help. It's a 64-bit OS. Should be able to five-box fairly reliably.

Now when you say med settings, do you mean my main and all the slaves on med settings? Or could i put all 4 slaves on absoulte lowest settings and then try to rock the high on my main?

The reason why I ask about a laptop 2600K, is because the first generation of i7 are about 2-2.5 times as SLOW as the second 2600K I7s, yet they are really close in price. So if there is laptops based on the second generation of i7s, you'd definitely want that.

I use a pair of dynamic settings macros. The first puts view distance up to maximum, and most other settings to medium... let's say 6.0-6.5 out of 10.0 for the master character. The second puts view distance to about half, and most other settings to minimum... some settings use a console command to disable them completely (the warcraft sliders will only let you go to 1/5, rather than 0/5 for shadows, water quality, reflections, weather effects, etc). My slave windows are basically on minimal, except for view distance. They are capped at 20 FPS. My master has a lot of the eye candy on, but I've specifically disabled Shadows entirely and lowered Water/Reflections as I don't like their look. This character is capped at 60 FPS, and even in a busy city gets that level of FPS easily. My system is: i7, 920 (stock speed) 12GB, DDR3 (1600mhz) GTX 275, 1GB video 220mb/sec SSD (64GB) Asus P6T motherboard. Nothing overly special, but easily playable with decent settings for five warcraft accounts, even in Stormwind on a top 10 population server (which is 80-85% alliance). As an aside, the system cost too much... 2.5 years ago; I hear you on how fast technology advances.

Ok to contribute to this, I am successfully running 5 wows on an Acer Aspire 5551-2468 Stats: AMD Athalon II x2 Processor p320 (2.1GHz) ATI Movility Radeon HD 4250 up to 1917mb HyperMemory 4GB DDR3 Memory 320GB HDD and the rest is just specs on the battery, monitor, DVD and LAN/WiFi. Runs fine, low settings on all 5 accounts, Org is a little choppy so I hang in undercity, otherwise doing randoms is fine without lag. Deffinately would rather have a faster Laptop for wow, but seeing as though this isn't really a gaming computer, rather a work computer I can't complain!
