| Hello there, I recently read this article regarding minimum requirements to multibox 5 WoWs.. According to the article the best choise is: Pentium E8400@3.00ghz, 4G ram, Geforce 9800 So I am recently trying to build something similar and maybe something a little "stronger".. Please let me know what you think about it, since I am no good with it.. - AMD Athlon II X4 630 (AM3, 2.8GHz, Cache 2MB, Box) (105 eu) - Asrock M3A770 DE (AM3, DDR3, AMD7700) (57 eu, maybe I need something better here?) - KINGSTON KVR1333D3N9K2/4G DDR3 4GB (2X2GB) PC10666 1333MHZ VALUE RAM DUAL CHANNEL KIT (84 eu) - Would a 550W be enough or should I get a 630W one? hmm - About the OS.. I really don't want Windows 7, I don't like Vista and I would like to use XP. But I don't think it can read more than 3GB RAM so I could use the 64bit version? Although, doesn't this limit a lot of programs (since not a lot of them run on 64bit..)? And I have a few doubts regarding the graphics card.. The article was suggesting a GeForce 9800GT but according to the site "videocardbenchmark.net" found a cheaper card with better results. So here are the 9800GT I found and the other card.. (No ideas what are the differences between the MSI, Asus, etc versions of the 9800GT :/) - MSI 9800GT-MD1G SVGA (PCI-Express, 1GB) (94 eu) - GAINWARD 0575 9800GT GREEN EDITION CUDA 1GB PCI-E RETAIL (104 eu) - GIGABYTE GEFORCE 9800GT GV-N98TOC-1GI CUDA 1GB PCI-E RETAIL (108 eu) - ASUS EN9800GT/DI/1GD3 CUDA 1GB PCI-E RETAIL (109 eu) or - Diamond 4670 1GB (PCI Express) (89 eu) I am sorry if that was a pain in the ... Thank you for your help! |

| Why wouldnt you want to use win7? Just out of curiousity. Also, any 32bit program will run on a 64bit system.

| Ah, well just so you know, XP64 has notoriously bad driver support. Also, win7 is actually better than xp from a performance point of view. win7 =/= vista.

| Hmm but Win7 won't allow me to run the programs I want. I might go with Vista64 then -.-" *sigh* |

| Win7 has a compatability mode that allows you to run programs as if they were running under previous windows versions. I like Win7 more than XP and XP more than Vista.

| Hey there, My thoughts are pretty in line with other people, but I'll sum it up: Get windows7. Not only is it needed for >3.5G RAM, but I actually just recently swapped 4 Vista64 systems of mine to Windows 7, and I have to say, its a HUGE increase in performance. I would personally get the intel systems. Try looking at the i5/i7s I believe they are priced around the same as the AMD, but currently faster. The GIGABYTE GEFORCE 9800GT GV-N98TOC-1GI CUDA 1GB PCI-E RETAIL is an awesome graphics card. The 6xxw powersupply is typically more than enough, just make sure it has the right power pinouts as the graphics card and the motherboard. Ram/HD/etc is all fine, but you might as well sport 6G ram, sometimes 5boxing in Dalaran will lag to all hell with 4G on a busy server. Windows7 typically runs everything, and if it doesn't, you can run it in "Vista7 or XP Pro compatability mode" like LL mentions. TL R- Go intel w/Win7 and any 9800 card is good |

| NOTE: You need a 64 bit OS to recognize more than ~ 3.25gb of memory. |

| Senior Member | and any extra cored systems beyond Dual...i mean theres more stipulations there, but anything beyond 2 its better to go 64 any ways....
