Dual Channel to Triple Channel memeory

I already have 4GB of OCZ memory (Dual channel set up) in my current computer, but I was thinking about upgrading to triple channel. Do I need to buy a whole new triple channel kit? I want 12GB and I was wondering if I could just buy 8GB of OCZ memory and add it on to the 4GB I have already, or will that no work?

I believe it all has to be the same. Some will tell you that each bank of memory needs to be the same, but if you try that, you're going to have issues.

Btw, want to get that i975 EE I have laying around?

be careful, with triple channel memory, you have to keep it in clusters of 3. i had this problem i only bought 4 gigs of ram and my computer was crashing and such and didnt know what was going on and it was only running at like 2.something gigs. i got another 2 gigs of the same memory, placed it in the appropriate slots, and it works noice now.
