Default Core i7 720 QM

I have question about this processor. Its clocked at 1.6 ghz per core, which is pretty low if you ask me, but there are 4 cores. WoW only takes advantage of 2 cores at the moment, so why would this core be a good choice over a dual-core when multiboxing on the go?

with turbo boost it can reach speeds of 2.8MHz which depends on the load. I found this article explaining the processor more in-depth

ah ok, is there a way that I can just overclock it to stay at 2.8 permanently?

not too sure if it has a locked multiplier(s) or not. But that would create a lot more heat in the laptop and use more energy if you overclocked it. And the last thing you want to do is create more heat in a laptop, because of the limited cooling it has

There was a thread on this, on one of the sites.
Not positive if it was this processor, but it was a laptop processor in the i7 line.

The overclocked (faster) speed, only applied when you were using a single core.
If you were to use more then one core for an application, it wouldn't use the faster boost speed at all.
The person who had that laptop, essentially recommended no one box on it.

In the last big patch, the wow patch notes mention warcraft will use more then 2 cores now.
Previously it was capped at two cores maximum.
But now will use however many cores you have for each client.

They mentioned a line you can add to your config file, to prevent warcraft from using more then 2 cores.
IE, you can force it to run as it has been running up to this patch if you want.

I think what is really needed here is a straight CPU benchmark at where this CPU is at in comparison to desktop CPUs.
