Depending on how many accounts you plan on running at once, and the game you intend to play...

Assuming you plan to 5 box warcraft (the most common game for boxing, and the most common number of accounts to run), I would highly recommend at least:

A 64-bit version of windows.
At least 6GB of ram.
At least a quad-core processor.
A low end SSD.

You can run the game with less then these specs. But, a dual core processor or inadequate ram will have the game run poorly. 4GB is plenty for 3 boxing warcraft or 2 boxing Lord of the Rings. The SSD is entirely optional, but you can purchase a 30gb generation 1 device for a hundred bucks, which will have a dramatic impact on your boxing.

Boxing on: Magtheridon US (Horde), in <The Zerg>.
We have 18 active boxers, plus others who play periodically.

Disgree! I currently 5-box with a dual-core quite well. It doesnt tax my CPU. I also never break 4GB no matter how much Im doing.

I have a Dual Core @ 2.66 GHz, 2 GB RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 and Vista on my laptop here and I can dualbox no problem.

That system would be able to run two WoWs, iTunes, Tim's Stream, Doom 3 at once without breaking a sweat

I was talking about Doom 3. But if you ever wanted to multibox the old Doom games, i'm sure you could run a couple hundred (if not many thousands) of games at once.

Hmm... that gives me an idea 100 simo run of Doom, anyone?

I used to run:

Q6600 (Quad Core)
8GB DDR2 800mhz Ram
Radeon 4870X2 (2048MB) Video
150GB Raptor (10,000 rpm) Hard drive

The game was "playable" everywhere.

However, just being on epic ground mounts with five toons in Dalaran at prime time and running in a straight line in an open street, follow would consistently break. Similarly, epic flyers on a 5-box team, out in the middle of nowhere would consistently break after 15-20 seconds of continuous flight in a straight line. Moving for 5-10 seconds and then pausing for 2-3 seconds would alleviate this in both environments.

Battlegrounds were definitely playable.

Wintergrasp was laggy, but still playable.
It seems the lagginess is the case, no matter your system. Just too many people in one area. Not every system will be playable here, but the Q6600 was.

Looking at my PerfMon (Performance Monitor), in Task Manager...

My Ram would sometimes get to 100%, but would typically run at 50-75%.

My CPU would get to 100% on all four cores, in a lot of situations including battlegrounds and cities.

My Video card was never the choke point.

Hard Drive would sometimes get to 100%, mostly when I was in cities with so many textures to load etc.

I would probably be running two WoWs, winamp, steam, msn, and opera.
