| So i built my computer in October 5th 2010 and ever since day one i have been getting various types of bluescreen crashes. I back when i first built it i did have two bad sticks of ram that i got replaced, I have madesure to update all drivers and windows updates as much as i could, I recently changed my ram to Patriot MemoryPX538G2000ELK DDR3 2000MHz from OCZ obsidian and noticed i did not crash for TEN full days and then within an hour or two i had gotten around ten bsod, now the ram and "all of my hardware is solid" - quote from my friend who works on computers and my local shop that carries high end computer parts(where i bought the PC) Im starting to think its my motherboard because alot of the BSOD errors i get are related to memory, and since WoW is pretty memory intensive and my memory is not faulty could it be my motherboard? (asus M4a89GTD pro/usb3) ive tried calling asus but they seem to hire compete retards. I have been doing everying to try and fix this BSOD issue but its really hard to take it into a shop because it might not BSOD for three days and they BSOD five times in ten minutes, also really bsod while i play games, i have had BSOD just browsing the internet but most of the times its whille i play battlefield WoW or any other game i have. Also have a problem with my HDD when i try to reinstall windows, it tells me that the system could not install here because the partition does not have the required space. I have a 400 GIG partition and it wont let me, i try to format it right there and ive even tried to format my partition that has windows on it right now and then intstall to it but it just gives the same error. IDK this is a bad experience for a first time built, the computer ran me about 1600 dollars and ive spent around 600 more trying to fix it, iam 19 and unemployed so i really dont have an option to buy more parts, besides all of the parts are brand new and were installed correctly. System: mobo: asus m4a89GTD pro/usb3 cpu: AMD phenom 2 x6 1055t gpu: ATI HiS HD5850 Ram: 8gigz partriot 2000mhz or 8 gigs OCZ obsidian OS windows 7 home premium x64 |

| I don't have a way to read them, i was posting on the sevenforums but it really wasnt getting alot of help there I was getting IRQL_LESS_OR_NOT_EQUAL SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION MEMORY_MANAGEMENT I was just looking in CPU-Z and was looking at my memory and i have patrion 2000MHZ ram but CPU-Z was telling me my frequency is at 380-550 MHZ on both sticks, and voltage is 1.50voltz so my question is should my frequency be higher? |

| Super Moderator | If your motherboard can handle 2000 MHz, then yes, modify your motherboard to handle the increased MHz. However, motherboards will downgrade the speed if it's an unsupported clock speed (I believe). So be sure your motherboard even supports 2000 MHz But the error codes can really help pinpoint the issue. Try taking a picture of it with your phone and get the error code that way, if possible.

| What i have been doing is usually going into c/windows/minidump and turning my BSOD errors into ZIP or .Rar files and uploading to crash support on sevenforums, but the answers i get are mostly the same, like check your RAM and update drivers(been doing this since day one |

| Try this: Downclock your RAM in your bios. Reduce the timings to something like 14/14/14/14/14 and downclock the speed about 25%. If your memory is faulty, that is one thing that can make its fault be less likely to turn into a BSOD. |

| Yah, i am not really a computer wiz and really don't want to kill my computer. I prefer not going into the bios but if i take my computer in ill let them know, just seemed odd that i have 2000mhz ram and its frequency was at 380. but i am still learning alot about computers. |

| One of the things computer stores do to trouble shoot, is change the components. While you might not want to box with one stick of ram, you can take the others out and see how the system runs. Given you had OCZ/Patriot and switched to the other, it is unlikely both sets are bad. But, it was recommended to not exceed 1600mhz ram, as higher speeds were known to have stability issues with the motherboards available at the time I upgraded to an i7 based system. I would tend to suspect the ram speed, but that's just a suggestion. The computer store will frequently replace one part with another. If you have a spare power supply, video card, ram sticks, etc... You can mix and match parts, and even if the new configuration is slower than you'd like to play/run, it can at least isolate whether it blue screens or not, which tells you which component is faulty and can be upgraded/replaced. |

| One thing you might also consider is much power is your power supply providing? If you have a 400W and your components collectively want 600W of power, you will get errors or even system shutdowns. Worst case scenario will be a power supply failure, like I had a few years back. I was worried it fried some components in the process, but I got lucky. If you have just enough power, you may be getting errors due to your memory failing to process since there isn't enough power run to them. One thing to consider is getting a 750W power supply (or borrowing one to see if thats the issue, so you don't waste money if thats not the case) or even play it safe, and get yourself a 1kW power supply. (Personally I'm getting one soon) Try that, test it with a friends power supply, or ask the computer store technician to trouble shoot that for you, and if that works, then it might solve your issue. |

| Super Moderator | Thing is, we won't know for sure without the dump file ![]() Also, 1kW seems a bit overkill to me (heh). I have a pretty high-end system and an 850w is perfectly fine. But the power supply is a good thought.
