My current settup is : AMD Athlon (x64) Dual Core Processor 6000+ (3.12ghz) Nvidiga geforce 9600 (512mb) 3gb ddr2 ram Cant remember the MB, but i know it cant handle am2+ windows 7 64bit verision I know i need to upgrade ram abit, and im thinking of the i7 920 (bcuz its only 15£ expensiver than the 860 in sweden) Maybe i have to upgrade the gpx to. Im not very good with computers. So what should i pick when i upgrade my computer? I know i need a new MB. Can someone help me setting up some new things? Sorry for my bad english also! Thanks! | Aside from the ram, your current system could likely 4-box fine. You can get trial accounts for free, from your account management page. Sure, these are limited to level 10 unless you upgrade them. And cannot go to Dalaran, as they won't have that expansion. Still, they will give you a very good idea of how playable four accounts will be, in a random zone (instances will be similar play), for your current system. Maybe not as smoothly as you would like, but it would be playable in most areas. Probably ugly in Wintergrasp, Dalaran and possibly AV... basically areas with a lot of player congestion. If you are already planning on upgrading.. Any i7 based system (get at least 6GB of ram, DDR3 is preferable) will box wow well. Dalaran will still be so-so in places, but that's Blizzards end and their polygon count for the zone. An 8800 GTX / 9800 GT / 260 GTS are basically the same card, and probably the minimum for 5-boxing with every option down. Chances are any 1GB video card, or anything that was new within the last year or two, will play wow much better. You can turn almost every option down, for smoother play. I like to maximize viewing distance on every toon, and place spell effects to at least half for all toons (so you can clearly see the puddle of death the slave/alts are standing in, and know to move out of it). |

Thanks for ur answer Uaala. Well, as im not experienced in computers. To get the i7, i need a new MoBo? I think, my MoBo only supports am2, not am2+. Anyone got some nice MoBo for a working price ? Edit : As im heading for PvP, i will be going to wintergrasp, AV and bigger places (just keep that in mind)

i7 is Intel's hardware, versus your AMD hardware. Ualaa is right, your CPU is just fine. But your RAM is only 3G. You probably want to upgrade that to 6GB, otherwise, you have everything covered nice (your GFX should be ok, my bro has a slower one and does fine).

they are two different companies providing two different types of processors. so not they will not work together. you will need a intel compatible motherboard if you go i7 920.

The two major companies for processors are Intel and AMD. The i7 line, is an Intel chip. Your current processor is an Athalon something, which is an AMD chip. It's the same idea as video cards. AMD owns ATI. While Nvidia is the other large company.

Ignore the whole intel VS amd conversation for now, just focus on turning your 3GB RAM into 6GB and you'll be set
