| That's not me, so not sure what was used. Frost has a lot more burst then Unholy, but Unholy is pets, if you like that; leveling all three specs work great. You basically go Howling Blast, as the Frost Rune ability. Glyphed this applies Frost Fever, which talented is a snare (50%) and cast speed reduction (30%). It hits at 30 yards, and snares/damages everyone within 10 yards of the target. You want to Howling Blast as often as possible. After Howling Blast, go with Frost Strike which is the majority of the damage from the spec. Frost Strikes have a 45% chance to regenerate a rune, which if everything else is unused has to be a Frost Rune. You can open with Blood Tap, for three consecutive Frost Runes. Also, go Unholy as your secondary, which gets you the talent where if your Frost Fever is cured, it instantly gives you a Frost Rune (combined with not using Unholy Diseases, so any decurse is a Frost Rune). Your second big tool is Necrotic Strike (at 83rd). This uses an Unholy Rune, and applies an anti-heal debuff. It hits fairly hard (almost as hard as Frost Strike). And with four of these on the target (you'll basically want to hit 4x, one per DK, every 5 seconds) the first 30k of healing does not heal the target at all. This lets you focus anyone, and kill them despite healing. Only thing that saves them is immunity effects. Blood Runes should be Blood Strike, or Blood Tap for the opener. Blood Strikes regenerate as Death Runes, which can be either Howling Blast or Necrotic Strikes. Then you get Anti-magic Shell (which prevents the application of any debuff effect), Icebound Fortitude (stun immunity), Lichborne (fear immunity), Pillar of Frost (knockback immunity)... which let you land your opener moves. Mind Freeze is runic power free with Frost Talents, so stagger those to interrupt casts every 2.5 seconds. You can also Strangulate to prevent instant cast spells. Add in Blood Elf silence racial. Casters are almost free kills. Hungering Cold, is the equivalent of AoE Frost Trap, if you want to single target kill anyone (have that on round-robin). You're team is basically Snare/Root immune, because of Death Grip on round-robin. Glyphed (both glyphs), you have: a) Extra range; b) insta-Refreshes if the target is immune; and c) insta-Refreshes on a kill. Sure they can immobilize/root you, but they cannot escape with an essentially infinite number of Death Grips. Run in Unholy Presence, for the GCD reduction and speed increase. Play with a big two-hander for the larger hits. For PvE, Frost Presence and dual-wielding is probably better, but definitely go Unholy Presence + Two-Hander for PvP. Lead with the healer, go with IWT/CTM for your Death Knights. A case can be made for each healer type, but the front runner at the moment is the Pally because of the immunity. Once there's an abundance of resilience/mitigation, a Shammy (for Tremor/Earthbind/Healing Stream = glyphed for resists) or Disc Priest (Bubble removal) will be decent options too. Google "Mosg2 +DK Manifesto", 25-page discussion on the other site. Plus his explanation video. Last edited by Ualaa; 12-17-2010 at 10:30 PM. |

| It is a slight extra buff for each DK, plus a raid buff for everyone. Here is my Frost talent spec. WoW Talent Calculator - Sigrie The point in Annihilation/Rime is wasted either way; we won't Obliterate often if at all. But need it to open the tree; the two points I put into Blood, could really go anywhere. You only really need one Horn of Winter (minor glyph), so could go with a different glyph on the other three. I've got the same glyphs as Mosg2. Chances are, our specs are very close; but he's put in a lot more experimentation/practice into the team, and I'd rate his spec as higher if there are differences. |
